It’s well read, the text is not entirely bad

The story revolves around sex scenes, and not the other way around. The story is shallow and very poorly explained — what about the magic? What this world is about? It’s like a sugary novela but with sex, and after a few of those it gets tiring. Would love to learn more about the world, the story, and have the sex as a bonus.

Good read setting up a new series

This book is a fun read. It’s kind of paranormal/sci-fi where there is a population living somewhere not on earth who were brought there via magic by the “founder”. This isn’t elaborated on, assumption is it’ll be expanded on in other books

I have mixed feelings - I like the world and it looks like there’s enough foundation for some interesting stories. That said, it has a case of the “tell you rather than show you”‘a. What I mean is for example toward the beginning, rather than showing what corruption looks like in motifs and scenes, there literally is a single scene where the group of bad guys reads down what sounds like a bulleted list of the talking points of the definition of corruption. The whole scene was maybe 3 mins and there was no elaboration

So that isn’t necessarily bad, but it just lands flat. Maybe that’s fine? I’m not the best judge of that

The dialogue is ok - a little stilted at times but fine enough on its own

There is some plot later on in the book to give it some sense of momentum. So like 1/3 to 1/2 way through it picked up a bit

The relationship stuff in the final third was annoying. Not going into it but it was very uninspired and didn’t do much to give depth to the main couple or help the plot

Not going to comment on the ending since that’s yours to read if you want.

So all in all, it’s a good read. Greg Boudreaux is excellent as always if you’re a fan of his work
