It’s going to vanish from my Audible Library shelf

The second in the series, yet it seems like it is a stand alone and in that sense, if you pick up this book, it can be read out of order.

I’m not a fan of alternating first person narratives and this book is a prime example why.
Stewart’s POV portrays him as an observant chap and categorizes him as a pathetic, paper thin yet cardboard cut-out, bland supporting character. Each time the focus is centered from his perspective, it’s so detailed to what everyone is doing and bogs down the story with atrocious amount of telling and a plethora of thoughts in his head, but does zilch for his personality and bringing him to life. He came across like a narrator bystander and page filler.
Detective Luca is the best fleshed out, which is a shame because this book has several characters that failed to find the limelight.
The mystery/plot line was interesting and well written, but it serve the impact, as it is lost within the characters’ inability to make the reader/listener care.
The narrator was slightly better than the book, but the book could have disserviced his abilities. I would try another book by Andrew Start, but I’ll pass on the author.
Two stars because there are more unpolished and underdeveloped “everythings” in other works out there. However, it’s not a book I’m going to keep in my Audible Library.

Intriguing to the very end

I loved the way the author fed little bits of information on each character into the story. Just enough humor here and there.....but not taking anything away from the seriousness of the story. I love Luca’s character and ordered book 3 already. Very well written and very well researched.

Hard to follow

I didn't listen to the first book in the series, and I felt a bit lost because I didn't have much background information on the characters.

I've listened to stories with alternating POV, or narration, and didn't have trouble keeping track. The narrator of this story does not change his tone, inflection, accent, or anything to indicate which character is speaking. I found the narration style flat. He sounds like a bad guy explaining his nefarious deeds.

I had to restart the book several times because a few chapters in I was completely lost.

Gone or Dead?

I love a good mystery and Dan Petrosini and Andrew Start delivered. I really enjoyed the story and thought the author did a great job weaving clues in the story. The narration added to the book with his emotions and performance. I liked the character of Detective Luca and had a mental image of hollywood actor and television character combined. Vivid imagery is important to me in a mystery book. This was time well spent listening. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. I would definitely listen to more books by both the author and narrator. Without giving away spoilers, I loved the ending.

Had Me On My Toes

The author had me on my toes, wanting more. Once I started listening to this book, I simply could not stop. There was just enough suspense to keep you wanting more. I love the way the narrator portrays each of the characters and I feel does an excellent job of getting across exactly what the author is looking for. This book is a 5 Star, in my world!

Good mystery

I do not read a lot of mystery stories, but this is one of the better ones I've listened to. Interesting main character. I do recommend this book. I received the Audible version, and here is the obligatory: This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Excellent

Robin beautiful, makes loads of money, and after ten years still puts up with her husband, Phil. He is a womanizer, now missing, his close friend.Dom.
Why did he do this, was it a scheme to get money. The plot has lots of good characters, to go woith this plot that has alot of twists to it. The first I have read by him, and was very pleased with his writing.
Given audio also which added to the story for my voluntary review and my honest

A real page turner.

A real page turner. Couldn't put this one down. Interesting characters. Where is Phil? Is he still alive? Vanished is written with two POVs. Detective Luca is such a true to life person with doubts and health issues. Dom Stewart is Phil's best friend. He's a wannabe, interesting character. It was great to get their thoughts and perspectives. I really recommend this book.
I listened to Audible version of this book. The narrator was excellent. He voiced the characters to perfection.

okay

even though it's clear from the beginning who the villain is, it was still interesting to see things from their perspective.
the narrator was okay, but the fact that it was one narrator for two male POVs, without changing the tone or giving each character their own vocal characterization made it a little difficult to remember which POV I was listening at each chapter.

Don't let this book vanish before you listen to it

I enjoyed this book and think If you like a moden day detective with a few flaws then this is the book/series for you. I like the way author doesn't solve the mystery in a few hours like they do on TV and you really get the sence that it might end up a cold case even go unsolved. It had a nice use of forensic to solve it but what was really nice is the detective is human with problem and not a fighting machine that can get out of any situation he finds himself in.
With the homicide rate at a low Luca finds himself working other areas of the police department, it's either do that or look at a cold case. Which is why he finding himself looking in the disappearance of a married man. What starts as a simple missing person case soon gets very complicated with contradicting statements from witnesses or changed statements pointing at suspects but as the information get dribble to them Luca feels more is going on and soon narrows down his suspect list, if only he could find the evidence to back him up.
The narrator was good and I enjoyed his style of talking.

Great story that pulls you along and draws you in!

This was a good audiobook with lots of tension and drama throughout.
The story builds and gives great detail and insight to the characters.

I loved how you never quite felt like you knew everything but you always had suspicions.

The narration was good. My only complaint was that 2 male characters sounded very similar to my ear and that meant I got lost on occasion between who was speaking. It in no way spoils the book and the experience.

This is a great mystery story that should appeal to those loving that genre, however I would urge anyone that likes a thriller or an intricate story to give it a go as well.

New and interesting !

A very nice detective story,
The way it was done is new to me, it was like a game of persona for each chapter which was a very nice idea which I never seen before ( nice writing trick ) .
The book itself was very well written!
The performance was perfectly done!
I enjoyed listening to it which made it hard to put it down or take a break till the ending.

Not to ruin the story I'll keep this short and
Totally recommend this book.

A bit plodding

This really wasn't what I was expecting. It definitely wasn't a 'who done it' but more of a 'how did he do it'. There was a lot of clever stuff in the plot but it was slow going. Sure, it seemed closer to real life and I liked that but I felt it could have been handled much better by the author to make it flow. I did feel I learned more about bladder problems than anything else, which is ok but not quite what I had anticipated in a thriller.

The characterisation was also a bit lame, particularly of Lucas' partner. I also deeply disliked the way she was voiced by the narrator. She sounded like she'd stepped right out of a 1950s cartoon and was the ditzy, big boobed, tiny waisted blonde.
Other than that the narration was ok. Dom came off extremely unlikeable though. Sure, he was an unlikeable character but it would have been far more interesting to feel he believed he was a good guy.

Having already listened to The Serenity Murder book 3 I wasn’t sure if it would spoil this book but it didn’t and can be listened too as a stand-alone.
Luca and his new partner have their work cut out when they are called into a missing person when all clues run out a body turns up turning their case into a murder case.

Move over Colombo

After a husband goes missing, Luca is called in to investigate. As Luca struggles with his health, the missing persons case, turns into a murder investigation. Good story, each chapter is told from the view of the main characters.

Well narrated, story moved at a nice pace, especially around the health issues.
