Todd Tucker’s night should have ended in a pool of blood.
Attacked and shot, he expects death—but instead wakes in an unfamiliar home, still injured, every breath a reminder that something isn’t right. Before he can make sense of it, he comes face-to-face with a man who is as striking as he is unsettling.
Handsome. Calm. Watching.
Not with concern—but with something far more dangerous.
As Todd struggles to understand why he’s still alive, a chilling realization creeps in: he may not have been saved at all. Because the way this man looks at him… isn’t like a rescuer.
It’s like he’s staring at his next meal.

Professionalism wasn’t a priority here—is this book titled “Vampire’s Bite” as the latest audiobook cover states, or is it “Vampires Bite” as the listing I found on Goodreads states, or is it “Vampire Bites” as the narrator stated when it opens? If the publisher cannot even be bothered to ensure their own title is spelled right on their own artwork, (or have one consistent title) or proof the audio, that does raise some alarms.
Written in first-person POV, present tense.
Content-wise, the first thing I noticed is that the writing style is all ‘telling’ style, rather than ‘showing’, sadly (adds a bit of dullness, removes the ability to really become immersed).
Quick read/listen.
Urban fantasy.
Vampires.
“Sǔb” awakening.
Instalove.
Steamy scenes.
Overall:
Theoretically, I could get into this world, if the writing were stronger, and the build more definitive. As it stands, the writing is weak, and it’s a bit too slow-paced for me. Not terrible, I’m just not exactly in love with it either.
2-3 stars (depending on where I’m rating and what they mean, as for me it’s “it’s okay”).
🎙️Audiobook:
Decent narration and voice-acting, on this end it wasn’t bad. There wasn’t perfect, crisp overall sound quality, so between that, and the title being pronounced as something other than what the cover says, it didn’t come off as ‘professional’ to me, but really not bad to listen to, nonetheless.
Decent narration, but weak writing.
