Publisher's Summary

They said AIDS had gone airborne.

They said we needed a vaccine.

They said there were no side effects.

They were wrong.

Now, nine of every 10 humans have changed, and they need the blood of the unchanged to live. Their thirst is unquenchable, and they can’t be stopped from destroying our world.

And I’m one of them.

Cringe Inducing

I love a good vampire story but this is not it. The main character is not even just two dimensional. He is a black and white photocopy of an archetype. An OP mary sue that has no likable qualities.

In conjunction with the uninspired voice acting of Daniel Wisniewski, this was just painful. The voice acting reached vaudeville villain levels of cheese while the story was trying to be Romeo and Juliet levels of serious. It was cringe inducing on every level.

Wow...just wow

I'm reading this during the covid pandemic and they just started to mention that they are close to releasing a vaccine. Soooo...I totally imagined the events from the beginning of the book happening in real life, lol. I was immediately sucked in. I enjoyed every part of the book. The action, the suspense, and the sex scene at the end, WOW 👏.

This is good

I've left very critical reviews on Jacobs' other novels, so I figured I owe him a positive one. The characters are well put together and make plausible decisions. The plot is a bit slice-of-life (meaning the MCs don't have any real plans), but given they are living during apocalyptic times, that ends up being pretty interesting. There is some sex, and it manages to be a little kinky and sweet at the same time. The romance doesn't impinge upon the plot, and the author does a good job of peppering in tender moments to break up the stressful horror scenes and give the reader an emotional break from all the suspense.

This book is solid, and has definitely redeemed Jacobs for me. I might actually check out some of his other books now that I know he has it in him to write something great.

How could you not?

I LOVE this series! This is one of Logan Jacob's better series. He has a few series thats a bit more deep than others and this is one of them. The narration is top notch too. I'm surprised how good Daniel Wisniewski is in this one, because I read another book he was in and didn't like the narration too much. Now I see he changed up his voice for the character which many narrators are unable to execute. Anyway, the story is super interesting despite the vampire trope, because it's not necessarily vampires the way you usually hear about vampires. They're just calling themselves that for the lack of a better word. Also, I like that the author decided not to just throw the harem in there right away and the focuses is more on the story. Book 2 is calling my name!

Thoughts

Overall the premise of the story is interesting, your modern day stories are better than your fantasy world ones. The final fight though was needlessly long and boring and shows that their future fights don’t look very promising especially with how much blood he takes from the girls without letting them make more.

Quite the gem

I love post apocalyptic books, so I may be biased, but this book had me hooked from start to finish. I really hope Logan can crank these out asap because I'm fiending for more already!

Very good new series

This is a very good start to the series. I was hesitant about the plot because I'm not too into vampire stuff, but was really pleasantly surprised. I definitely recommend it.
