Vampires and angels are locked in a deadly war. But first, they want their daughter back.

Half-vampire/half-angel, Violet was abandoned among the humans in London as a baby. Suddenly discovering monstrous powers on her 21st birthday, she thinks she's the most dangerous creature to prowl the streets.

She's wrong.

When a snarky angel falls into her lap and her adopted sister disappears, Violet is forced into a new role: huntress. But the deeper she's dragged into this supernatural world, the more she struggles to survive.

On the run, Violet will have to rely on a sexy vampire geek while facing off against the harem boy angel threatening her sister. There's only one way she'll win: by letting out the monster....

Great start to a series. It is a little slower paced, but the details that make it so are wonderful and make the story very rich. And the story is great once it gets really started so it is well worth reading even if you're not a big fan of all the details added in.

This is a good story and the narrator does a great job telling it. She tells it with lots of emotion and flare. I didn't care for the music in between chapters.

I don't normally give up on books, but with this one, I am making an exception. I have listened to over two hours of the audiobook and have no freaking idea what is happening. I usually enjoy urban fantasy books, especially those involving vampires, but this one just left me cold.

In order for me to invest time in a book, something has to grab my attention. Usually, it's the characters. With this book, I don't like any of them. Violet is a totally unlikable person, regardless of the fact that she was abandoned as an infant. Within just the first chapter, violence seems to be the main theme of the book. Violet lives with her drug dealer boyfriend, who is a total creep. After being stabbed by his nemesis, Rebel appears to save Violet, killing said boyfriend.

Rebel is an angel (I guess) who lives with a loathsome family of witches who abuse him mentally, physically and sexually. He takes Violet to their house for healing and to endure their abuse.

Honestly, I just couldn't figure out what was going on after listening to this much of the book. And, furthermore, I just didn't care. I also found some of the writing to be annoying with the constant use of comic book type sound effects for every punch and emotion. I finally decided that there are too many other books waiting to be read to try to slog through this one.

The narrator was the best part of the book and I stuck with the book as long as I did to see if the story got better. Maybe it would, but I'll never know.

Total confusion
