Publisher's Summary

Narah Adrienne is a bounty enforcer in the near future. She runs the seedy side of her game, capturing criminals too dangerous for the local law enforcement. Using unorthodox methods, she finds herself in the crosshairs of the Magistrate for too many allowable kills for the quarter.

And her head hurts like hell.

Aeslin is part of an elite vampire squad of Turners. A rare sect of vampire scouts who possess the ability to find women with enough undead blood to be turned into full vampire.

Very Disappointed

I received Book 1 free for an honest review. I have to admit, when I realized that each book was basically a chapter and when you finished each book you had an incomplete story, I bought books 2 and 3. Even more stupid than that, I bought the set that included books 1-6. I just wanted to get the whole story. The worst part of it was the Narrator. She was HORRIBLE. I will never listen to her again. She almost made my stomach sick. Too many pauses. Reading too stilted. Characters' voices were ridiculous. The only voice that was half good was Narah's. About the story, I'm not really sure it was good either. The ending was predictable. It was actually very immature. Could have been written with a little more depth to the characters. I got so confused with the characters that I didn't get the details of the story. I will not put myself through that pain again.

has promise, but didn't quite deliver

Would I listen to it again: maybe Did the story keep me engaged: not really Was I invested in the characters: a little Story comment: I'm not really sure what to say about this book ... and despite it being a "set", i'm calling it a book because you need all 6 to get a complete story. It started out promising: Narah, an enforcer who tracks down the worst of the worst of criminals, has trouble coming at her on multiple fronts ... • a sadistic magistrate wants to make an example of her for exceeding the number of "authorised kills" she has made in the name of doing her job; • Matthews, a Hunter, is a member of a society out to eliminate supernaturals, by sterilising women who have the potential to be vampire mates and can produce vampire children is after her; and • Aeslin, a member of an elite vampire squad tasked with turning woman into vampires for the benefit of their dwindling numbers, discovers Narah is the other half of his soul and wants her for himself. When the main players and plot had been established I was intrigued, but it just didn't have the pace or depth I was expecting. I think this book would suit someone new to the genre, but as someone in their 40's who has been a paranormal fan for decades, this one just fell short of the mark for me. I'm not sure the narrator was the best choice for this series. She has good inflections and intonations and has tried to give each character their own voice, but the voices were inconsistent, didn't particularly suit the characters personality and more than once I lost track of which character was speaking. <I obtained this book via Audiobooks Unleashed in exchange for an unbiased review.>

Probably better if read rather than listen

I love PNR and Urban Fantasy. Although this book series was intriguing, the narrator tries too hard when switching voices and it's so prominent that it detracts from the story. I tried speeding up the tracks but it didn't help. I'd say give it a pass on audio and just buy the books.

I did not enjoy

I listen to this books to and from work so around 3 to 4 hours a day. I found I couldnt keep up and once I figured it out the book had the typical ending. the individual reading it to us did not do the book justice.

Horrible Narration.

Would you try another book from Tamara Rose Blodgett and Marata Eros and/or D. Gaunt?

Yes., but not if D. Gaunt is the narrator.

What did you like best about this story?

Idea of the story.

Would you be willing to try another one of D. Gaunt’s performances?

No, she is horrible.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I liked the book, not the narration.

Any additional comments?

I have listened to hundreds of book, some have not had the best narration. This is the first time I have left a review, the reason I'm leaving this review is so hopefully someone will make D. Gaunt either get some training or get out of the business. I really wanted to ask for a refund, but I didn't want the author to miss out.

Unfortunately this was a miss for me.

I listen about half the book before I gave up, I couldn't stand the narration. the quality was off, sometimes the audio was too loud and others too low, the narrator was quite monotone and her accent was difficult for me, as a non native English speaker, to understand. The story itself was ok, but too predictable. I might pick up the ebook, but I'm not that excited about it.

Enjoyed the story

I enjoyed the book, it had some good promise and was interesting however the narrator was a little hard to get into.
