Publisher's Summary

Two New York Times bestselling author styles come together for Dark Paranormal Romance + Urban Fantasy = a yummy Brief-Bites novelette.

Bounty enforcer, Narah Adrienne, has been served her sentence in the form of three lashes to be meted by a corrupt Magistrate. She's unable to acquire her target as instructed, while strange health issues force Narah to seek help in the dangerous medical underground. They might have answers–for a price.

Vampire Turner Aeslin knows what ails her and is the only one who can save Narah by turning her into the vampire she is destined to be. Violent circumstances introduced them, and Narah knows that there are threats even worse than the criminals she pursues.

Can Aeslin find her before her sentence is delivered and the Hunter who stalks her? Will Narah be able to save herself from the inexplicable sensual pull she shares whenever Aeslin is near? Or is their tie more than shared vampire blood, but something more powerful than mere chemistry.

Vampire is 40+ pages/10,000 words, and is the second volume of episodic novelettes in the ALPHA CLAIM serial.

Good Book, Too bad it is so short

I thought the story was good. It is a shame that it is so short because it is actually equivalent to a chapter in a book. I got Book 1 for free but bought the next two books. It can be expensive to read an entire book and pay for each chapter. The narrator did an okay job. Not one of my favorites.

Story interesting

BOOK REVIEW.....
I find the book to be moving along nicely with the story. I look forward to continuing with the series.

NARRATOR REVIEW.....
This narrator is awful. She does terrible voices for the characters.

has promise, but didn't quite deliver

*** This Review is for Books 1 - 6 as they make up one story *** Would I listen to it again: maybe Did the story keep me engaged: not really Was I invested in the characters: a little Story comment: I'm not really sure what to say about this book ... and despite it being a "set", i'm calling it a book because you need all 6 to get a complete story. It started out promising: Narah, an enforcer who tracks down the worst of the worst of criminals, has trouble coming at her on multiple fronts ... • a sadistic magistrate wants to make an example of her for exceeding the number of "authorised kills" she has made in the name of doing her job; • Matthews, a Hunter, is a member of a society out to eliminate supernaturals, by sterilising women who have the potential to be vampire mates and can produce vampire children is after her; and • Aeslin, a member of an elite vampire squad tasked with turning woman into vampires for the benefit of their dwindling numbers, discovers Narah is the other half of his soul and wants her for himself. When the main players and plot had been established I was intrigued, but it just didn't have the pace or depth I was expecting. I think this book would suit someone new to the genre, but as someone in their 40's who has been a paranormal fan for decades, this one just fell short of the mark for me. I'm not sure the narrator was the best choice for this series. She has good inflections and intonations and has tried to give each character their own voice, but the voices were inconsistent, didn't particularly suit the characters personality and more than once I lost track of which character was speaking. <I obtained this book via Audiobooks Unleashed in exchange for an unbiased review.>

Part 2

We learn more about our h and her 2 "interested parties." They are both fighting their instincts to do their jobs. Hmmmmm. Also, I do find myself hoping for the judge to come to a very bad end that is described in gory detail.
