Publisher's Summary

A Nion warrior never kills. Never. But this time, she may have to destroy the man she loves.

They found him chained in the depths of an enemy ship. Half-starved, beaten, and abused in more ways than anyone could ever imagine, the man still exhibited a strength of character that impressed his deliverers, including Captain Willis Tate.

Something about this one, whom his captors called Vall, tugged at her heart. It was too bad she wouldn't have the chance to explore the exciting new feelings he brought to her when she was around him. Her orders were to deliver him to the nearest Regency base, where it would be determined what species he belonged to, and then be indoctrinated into his new life of freedom. He would be returned home, and Will would go back to her ship.

At least, that was the plan, until a ship of unknown origin suddenly appears from out of nowhere and demands Vall in exchange for her life and the lives of millions more. It isn't until she finally discovers Vall's true identity that Will realizes how special he is to keeping balance in the Universe. And how special she has become to him.

Not My Favorite Linda Mooney

I've read a number of Linda Mooney books and enjoyed them all. Vall's Will is a big exception. First, I truly disliked Audrey Lusk's voice. It was harsh and strident, no matter the emotional content, and the lack of nuanced emotions made the whole read seem loud and flatlined. Secondly, I don't know how long ago Linda wrote this, but the immature technical aspects of this sci-fi were comedic at best and boring at worst. I thought the concept was interesting, very interesting; Mythic beings from the folklore of sentient races based in fact. I'll definitely take a chance on Linda again, but not this narrator.

Awesome sci-fi romance

Now this is what I'm talking about! Kiss ass woman, rescues man if unknown origin and HEA ensues. Just the right amount of heat with great fleshed out characters and a good storyline that keeps you engaged and makes sense. The narrator also did a great job changing up the characters so you knew who was who. A+

Vall's Will

I think this is the first book by Linda Mooney I've ever listen to and really enjoyed her creative mind!
The main character in Willis (aka Will) and she's a Nion Captain of her own ship. She has the respect of her crew members and is very savvy.
When she comes across an enemy ship with a special hostage of unknown species that's been abused, her heart goes out to him. When she discovers Vall's true identity Will realizes how special he is to keeping the peace within the Universe. What will she give up to keep everyone safe?
Audrey Lusk does a fantastic job at narrating this sci-fi story.

Very entertaining!

I love Sci-fi romances and this audiobook is a prime example of how to write a good one! The character of Vall is a unique and thought-provoking one, while the heroine Will is a strong female leader who looks beyond what her eyes see. I loved the books conclusion and the narration was very well done!

Good Space opera with a story that was different.

Any additional comments?

This is the second book I've read by this author. I really liked both stories and found that book and this one quite different. It wasn't like your typical alien needs human women stories. In that I found the story different and refreshing. I didn't give it a solid 5 because I would have liked to see more development and growth in Vall and a deeper connection between Vall and Will besides the fact that he needs her. You'll learn why as you read the story.

Audrey does a good job of narrating and using different tones and voices. Overall I didn't quite enjoy is as much as the other book, but it was an interesting read. I have added this author to my list of buys. I like how unusual her stories are.

Absolutely love love loved this book!

I wish it was longer but then it probably wouldn't be as good as it is. A perfect blend for sci-fi and romance! Did I mention that I love this book?
