Publisher's Summary

When the ability to see those destined to die turns from a curse into a blessing, Bryn Halbrook reluctantly embraces her new reality - that she is Valkyrie. A real, honest to goodness, in the flesh Valkyrie, no longer a figment of Old Norse lore, but a real being who seeks out the dead who are fated for the halls of Valhalla in service of the great God Odin.

Joining a band of secret Norse warriors, Bryn contends with gigantic golden dragons, a vicious Dark Elf Queen, a warrior goddess, a world tree who needs her help and the impending Armageddon of Ragnarok. Bryn has to be more than just bad-ass with a wicked sword to make it through the day.

With gods as mentors, an immortal werewolf as teacher, wings for transport, talking ravens for guides and loyal friends who never leave her side, Bryn faces a lifetime of challenges which test her trust and courage, her self-esteem and loyalty, her heart and her hope.

Fans of the shieldmaidens, the Vikings, Norse mythology, Odin, Thor and Loki will enjoy this tale of modern meets Norse myth.

Don't judge a book by its cover

I'm on a Norse Gods kick right now but I have put off this series because the cover picture is so cheap and offputting. The main character isn't a snarling biker chick with a sword and cheap hair dye. Overall there are more things I like about this series than I do not like.

Lacking A Captivating Story Line

I tried to finish this set but can’t with 20hrs left I have to quit. The store has the potential to be a good one, unfortunately to much time is spent on the main characters feelings.
The author is very good at painting a picture, you can see the story unfolding in your mind. The story line is just to slow!

Story is under developed

I feel that the writer could have been pushed to develop this story more and rally flesh out the characters, but instead rushed the story along with limited foundations. My attention was lost when the MC states she is going to kill Loki, as if that were possible. Again, this story feels under developed. If the writer had a developmental editor, they did not do their job well.

Read it or don’t. I personally tried to continue on with the story, but it’s missing too much and rushing right along. Not bad, just not there.

Bland and odd

The story line is rather bland, with little character development and seems like a horny teenager wrote it. The best part was all taken directly from norse mythology. The reader has a good main voice, but additional characters are high and squeaky or oddly grunty.
