This is an intriguing, twisted, dark tale!

The narrator for this book is a wonderful choice. She has this way of conveying the story that just makes you want to keep listening to the very end.

This is book two in this dark, twisted series and you must read/listen to book one, XV : Fifteen, before reading/listening to this book. Also this book ends on a cliffhanger to lead you into book three, I : One.

Note: There may be some content in this book that can be triggering to some readers/listeners.

Mischa is cruel in his treatment of Ellen Winthorp because he believes she is in love with her husband and is complacent in the way he treats others. Nothing could be further from the truth, Ellen feels absolutely nothing when it comes to her husband, Robert. That's the only way she's been able to survive him and his cruel games. She knows loss, but she refuses to give Mischa any information about her life even if he treats her cruelly. She tries to play Mischa's games, but he's constantly changing the rules and making it impossible for her to come out on top. Ellen is caught in the middle of a war that started before she was born and she doesn't see an end in sight. This series is dark, gritty, twisted and I'm loving every minute of it. I'm looking forward to book three, I : One and finding out where it all began. Definitely a must read/listen to series for all the twisted dark minded readers/listeners out there.

Love Love Love

This book was just as good as the first. The story and the narrator still have me hooked. The cliffhanger is strong though so I suggest you have all books before reading. I had to listen to this one in two sittings and it sucked...I suggest listening to these in one sitting if you can cause once you start you wont want to stop!!!

VII: Seven War of Roses Book 2 by Lana Sky

Ellen has been through hell and back after being taken by Mischa. Memories that she had long forgotten have come back to haunt her.

Mischa Stepanov has taken the one thing that could break Robert, his wife. He can’t kill her like he thought but instead he will protect her even if it makes him look weak.

Ellen Winthrop has been pulled into a blood feud between the Winthrops and the Mafia that has been going on longer than she has been alive. Stuck between a man that saw her more as a trophy and man who is slowly building her into someone or something, she barely recognizes. With Robert she was meek and quiet but with Mischa she has a voice that is heard and a reason to speak. Mischa knows answers to the secrets that elude Ellen, but some things are better left long dead in the past. Mischa tells her that she is no longer his captive, but she will have to prove her loyalty. But at what price?

Out of all three audibles for the War of the Roses this one brought me to my figuratively knees while listening to it. The emotions that Caitlin Allgood Knight was able to narrate for both characters were almost hard to listen to. It might have been the shortest of the three, but it packed the most punch.

This book crushed me and then built me back up again to crush me yet again. Mischa is strong but at times he lets Ellen in to see that small part that still belongs to the boy that told her to get under the bed and just breath. He has saved her so many times physically as well as emotionally. He is slowly making her stronger while she is tearing down the walls that he has built around that heart that he thought was black. *sigh* With Mischa it’s almost as if he is daring you to get in his head and not giving a shit about what you find. Love me or hate me. It’s Ellen that is slowing it down because she is afraid of what she will find in him. She is using Robert to shield herself from Mischa because if she looks to deep, she may see a reflection of herself or what she might become. The sensations that Mischa can bring out in Ellen scares the hell out of her because she isn’t used to being touched with tender strokes but only with pain.

VII (War of Roses, #2)

VII is the 2nd part in the War of Roses series which is one of my favourite series ever.
I had already listened to the first audio book of this series and enjoyed it very much and I was not disappointed here.
The story it self is very dark and twisted and breathtaking and it's filled with so many twists and turns that keeps you hooked all the way till the end.
The narration done by Caitlin was really great and I enjoyed her as Ellen very much and I loved the accents switch which she used.
It all made listing to the audio book a great experience and i cant wait to listen to the final part of this series.

Fantastic Read!

Audible Review*
Narrated by: Caitlin Allgood Knight
This is dark, twisted and utterly fantastic! From the first page I was hooked and could not put this book down. Miscah and Ellen's story continues. I'm more intrigued by Mischa, he's brutal, cruel, violent, caring and protective. Elle is hurt, abused, but becoming stronger. Their relationship is messed up to say the least. The storyline is gripping and brilliantly constructed, the plot is well thought out and palpable, the characters flawed, damaged and well developed. There's nothing I didn't love about this book and I'm anxiously awaiting the next book!!

Caitlin really captured each character perfectly and kept me wanting more. I will definitely download and listen to more stories narrated by her!

twisted obsession

Book 2 in Sky's War of the Roses series. I will say that I think you should probably read book 1 in this series to get an idea of what's lead up to this point. I thought this was a really good read - captivating story line that flowed really well. These characters were amazing. I loved mafia leader Mischa who was ruthless but nurturing at the same time. While this read / listen provided some answers from the first book it definitely provides more questions too.

Overall I would say this was a really good read. The performance / narrator, while not my favorite still did a really good job and the story was great with really good story line flow.

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
