VALLEY OF DEATH

It was supposed to be a few relaxing days in the mountains for Nash Jaramillo and his Viet Nam Army buddies, target shooting and drinking beer. Then they discovered that the New Mexico valley where Nash had his cabin had been taken over by international terrorists with an explosive agenda. Cut off from the outside world, the old soldiers had no choice but to take on an enemy force that outnumbered them five to one. Over fifty years ago in Viet Nam these four men had fought for their country and survived, and now they were determined to do it again. You must read this exciting and action-packed follow-up to Broken Heroes, in which age and experience are pitted against evil intentions with deadly results.

Not bad, but not great.

I had heard from a friend that this was a good book, and mostly I agree. The plot is absolutely full of holes,

including why the team didn’t just call the authorities when they first discovered Sue. I kept asking myself that question throughout the entire book. It was totally unbelievable because of that one point.
Additionally, how is it they got away with it considering modern investigative techniques that are currently being employed at the time of writing.

Also, this was computer narrated and while it wasn’t bad, actually quite good, except when the auto-narrator referred to a .45 handgun as a “point four five” gum. That’s when I realized it wasn’t a real human narrating the book. Still though, it was hardly noticeable.

Overall not bad and I don’t feel ripped off or in need to demand a refund. It was a nice weekend diversion and a good story, even if not even remotely believable. I think Mr. Allin would be a good author if he had a professional editor to help him out with details noted above.

Los Alamos memories

Being born in Los Alamos, I was interested in the story. It was also traveling in my mind as the story took me to different places in NM.
