Anhygoel! (Amazing)
Diolch Ruth am stori mor hyfryd a chymhellol, yn llawn emosiwn ac eiliadau arbennig am gyfeillgarwch rhyfeddol. Fel merch Gymreig 52 oed, roeddwn ar goll yn yr atgofion hyfryd o dyfu i fyny yng Nghymru'r 80au. Stori eithriadol, lle rydych chi'n cael eich amsugno'n llwyr yn y gorffennol.
Thank you Ruth for such a wonderful and compelling story, full of emotion and special moments of remarkable friendship. As a 52 year old Welsh girl, I was completely lost in the wonderful memories of growing up in 80s Wales. a truly exceptional read for all 50 something ladies (and of course all ages) where you can be completely absorbed in the past.

Disappointing after Never Greener
Like some other reviewers I can see I am in a small minority but I was SO looking forward to this book and I was disappointed on all levels. I have heard it said that authors should be dissuaded from reading their own works and I believe that if someone else had done the narration the characters might have come alive more, been easier to differentiate. As it was I couldn't get excited about these lives and I kept waiting for the point of the book ... The plot lacked tension and pace. It was more like a biography of three women who didn't do much and maybe that is the point. I suspect that this is a great book (as someone has said) if it talks about your own history growing up in Wales. Otherwise difficult to engage with at least for me.

Okay
I loved the author’s previous book, but I found this rather bland. Clearly, my opinion is an outlier, given all of the five star reviews. It is very well written and narrated, but it’s just rather predictable and formulaic.

I’m in total awe of Ruth’s writing, I can picture every character perfectly in my head, I loved them all, especially Patricia, and I could see bits of myself and friends in all of them.
I found I was trying to ration how long was left, I didn’t want it to end. This would be such a good movie, please please please lol!

Loved listening to this
I really enjoyed this book. Ruth Jones story telling is legendary. This book brings every emotion with her spot on inclusion of humour, drama and sadness. it was great hearing her narrate the story as it was intended, really bringing the characters to life. I can't wait for the next book

A divine read!
I loved the book and the narration. Judith, Lana and Catrin were just wonderfully developed characters whom i enjoyed so very much.
What caught me off-guard was Judith’s narcissistic personality disordered mother, Patricia. I have one myself and found myself cheering Judith on from the very beginning…”Just get your rucksack and go Judith; the bitch isn’t sick and you’ll never get this opportunity again!!!” hahaha
Ruth Jones created the particular behaviours of a covert narcissist so well in the character of Patricia, it was alarming.
What I didn’t enjoy was the tidy tie-up of this character - narcissistic mothers are toxic to the end (and beyond the grave) and they leave a trail of destruction. I would have believed the character’s storyline much more if it had of portrayed the truth of narcissistic mothers; that they take no prisoners.

An achingly funny story from the author of the best-selling You Had Me at Hello. When Edie is caught in a compromising position at her colleagues' wedding, all the blame falls on her - turns out that personal popularity in the office is not that different from your school days. Shamed online and ostracised by everyone she knows, Edie's forced to take an extended sabbatical - ghostwriting an autobiography for hot new acting talent, Elliot Owen. Easy, right? Wrong.
