Publisher's Summary

Learn about Hinduism by listening to its most important texts - the Upanishads!

Have you always been interested in Hinduism but didn’t know where to start? The Upanishads are ancient texts explaining mediations, philosophy, and spiritual ideas of Hinduism.

The Vedas are the core scriptures of Hinduism. In Sanskrit, "Veda" translates to knowledge. These texts offer exactly that - timeless, ancient knowledge and an understanding of some of the highest ideas mankind has ever had.

The Upanishads represent the oldest and most revered part of the Vedas. They are the beating heart of Hinduism thought and practice. For centuries, these texts were memorized and passed through generations by oral transmission. They predate Buddhism and Christianity and fascinate both Western and Eastern modern philosophers.

Two central topics covered by the Upanishads are concepts of brahman and atman.

Brahman represents the all-pervasive fabric of our reality. It’s timeless, infinite, and eternal, the truth that never changes but causes all change. All existence is described by brahman, manifested or not. It’s formless, but contains all forms.

Atman, on the other hand, signifies the inner self, what we call the soul. It’s the immortal essence of all living beings, humans, animals, and trees. The Upanishads state that the true self of a person is not to be found in their body, mind, or ego - the true self is always atman. As such, it’s eternal and at the core of every being.

The relationship between brahman and atman is discussed throughout the Upanishads and by Hindu philosophers ever since. Some say they are the absolutely same; some say they are the same, but different.

Since they were translated in the 19th century, the Upanishads have fascinated and impressed the Western minds. There’s no source better to reveal the wisdom of Hinduism, its philosophy, and spiritual practices.

I love it following listen this audio guidebook.

The Upanishads were dialogues between gurus and their students, and they emphasize the esoteric dimension of sacrifice. Sacrifice has various meaning, including a person’s life, breath-control exercises, or celibacy.

The social context of the Upanishads.

Upanisads were composed and not written. In this audio book, the authors bring that poetry alive in English. A difficult task given the complexity of metaphysics composed in a language like Sanskrit.

I prefer this audible cause valuable content here

The Upanishads are “wisdom teachings” that explore the deeper, internal meaning of sacrifice. Jnana – revolutionary wisdom that transforms and enlightens one’s consciousness – is an important goal of Upanishadic teachings.

An extremely wonderful learning audible.

The Upanishads abound in spiritual knowledge. They are the end part of the Vedas and known collectively as Vedanta. In Sanskrit, which was the main language of communication among the elite groups in India for several centuries, the word Upanishad means sitting down near.

The Upanishads deal with ritual observance.

Upanishad has also been interpreted to mean “secret teaching” or “revealing underlying truth”. Upanishads for each of these address the themes and concepts expressed.

I have seen some amazing hearing's on Upanishads

Upanishads are known, of which the first dozen or so are the oldest and most important and are referred to as the principal or main (mukhya) Upanishads. The mukhya Upanishads are found mostly in the concluding part of the Brahmanas and Aranyakas and were, for centuries, memorized by each generation and passed down orally.

To represent its advantages to improve well being.

The Upanishads are commonly referred to as Vedānta. Vedanta has been interpreted as the "last chapters, parts of the Veda" and alternatively as "object, the highest purpose of the Veda"
