Tried so hard to keep listening

After listening to a few hours of this book, I went back online to see if this was supposed to be marked "young adult". Honestly, I am so confused about the reviews of this book. I stuck with it longer than I wanted to only because everyone talked about how part 2 gets so good and it becomes more of a tense, suspense, stalker type thing, but I just couldn't stand another minute. I have absolutely no problem with the F word for emphasis or in the right situation but this was over the top...This boy, Lacklan, did not sound like a 22 year old that I wanted to know. Good lord, come up with something else to say other than "F*&k" to describe your feelings. Once I got to part 2 and heard that Lila, who was amazing at soccer, amazing at beer pong, had the perfect body, was rich, was everyone's wet dream, was choosing from different medical schools and Lachlan was the star of American hockey and his name was constantly on tv, it was just too much. Who are these people??? These aren't real people. You can't take a perfect person in every way and give them a significantly bad event (which I admit, I never fully got to find out about) and think that makes them relatable as a character. I was sort of grossed out by this book and I am, in this case, happy to say that perhaps I am too mature for this book. Ugh. No.

5 Star Dark College Romance With A Possessive Swoony Hero

Good golly, what did I just listen to??? Reading about a possessive hero is always a slippery slope, but this one was done right. This book hookered (yeah typo but it was funny so I left it 😂) me in all the right ways. I was so obsessed with it that I found it hard to put down. The narration was perfection, they really brought these characters to life. 5/5 stars

Got me back into audio books

TikTok got me on this one and I am OBSESSED! so gripping. I had my headphones in at any minute I could listening to this! So sad it’s done. On to the next one!

What a ride !!!!

Ahhhh. I loved this so, so much. A great mix of a really great story and steamy romance. These characters are so easy to root for and love. Read it now. You won’t be disappointed.

This was my first Claire Contreras book and I'm trying to figure out which one of her books to go to next. The only downfall to this book was when Kasha Kensington needed to switch to a manly voice especially when the man was upset and she needed to come across that way. Other then that I 10/10 recommend this book, it definitely kept me on my toes.

Crazy ride

This is my first book by Claire Contreras. What a ride this author took her readers on. It was incredible, and one of the most intense and suspenseful books I’ve ever read. Narrators were amazing and I’m looking forward to reading more.

Freaking phenomenal!!

What a story!! Two fierce and strong protectors ! They came together and would do anything for one another!Beautiful love story with so many tragedies. It hurt my heart how much Lyla had to endure .

Claire did an amazing job writing this story! Loved Lachlan and Lyla! Roller coaster ride with an amazing ending!

I LOVE Claire's writing!! Ugh. Lachlan and Lyla are amazing, and the writing is phenomenal! I devoured this book! This may have been the fastest I have ever finished an audio book! Seriously, it's one of my favorites of Claire's books so far! It has the perfect amount of suspense and angst to make it unputdownable! I realize this review utilizes a lot of exclamation points, but I don't really know how else to convey my excitement over this book!!

An intoxicating dark and suspenseful plot with a sensational audio narration!

I kept seeing this book and heard it was about hockey and was dark. I didn’t even read the blurb and just dived right into the audiobook and it was everything and more! Lachlan might want to possess Lyla in this book but this book completely possessed ME! It was such an intoxicating storyline and just consumed me right from the prologue!! Then you had Lyla & Lachlan’s first encounter which brought banter, chemistry and fire and I knew I was a goner! From there, the whole book had me in a chokehold with a plot that you just can’t put down! It’s got mystery, suspense, hockey, a possessive MMC, dark aspects, he falls first and of course my favorite…touch her and you die! I highly suggest just picking up this book or listening to the audio because you will not regret it as it is just written so damn well!!!

The audio narration of this book is SENSATIONAL! I could not hit pause because it was THAT good…I may have even fallen asleep with my headphones on and woke up to Joe yelling as Lachlan in my ears! Joe Arden and Kasha Kensington completely captured the feelings, emotions and dark tones of this book perfectly with their voices! Kasha brought Lyla to life and had so much passion in her voice! I especially loved her male voice and didn’t even believe it was her at times because it was so well done! Then you have Joe’s ability to change his tone and intensity of voice based on the moment so well as he goes from caring to spice to anger…it is perfection! This audio is truly a performed work of art that I will be listening to again!

Slow this moves so slow

Narrators are brilliant but the storey moves at a snails pace. I managed to stick with it but not great.

Awesome book

Loved everything from start to finish. One of my first spicy Romantic suspense and I’m in love 😍 I would definitely try some of her books again cos this is one fantastic 🥰 I would recommend 💯

ive been dying to listen to this, for weeks ive been fighting not to pay for it for extra credit and when i did. im bored with the drama. its good but not that great compared to other books of the same author. overall , yeah its a good book to listen

I’ve been listening to a lot of audibooks recently, maybe 4/5 per week on average so I get though a lot!
This was the first book that I’ve listened to in a few weeks where I didn’t want to stop listening for a minute! There was some heart pounding moments! Make you smile moments & some SAWCYYY moment! Defo recommend.
