Publisher's Summary

His entire life Ethan has been keeping his more violent urges a secret from his family. They all think he is just antisocial, but what they don't know is that every day he struggles not to give in to his growing desire to kill.

Looking to escape for just a little bit and hoping that a change of scenery will help him, he agrees to join Isabelle and Stefan in Bermuda. What he doesn't expect is for Emma to walk into his life and change it in ways he’d never anticipated.

Just when he finally begins to find some peace in his life, a dangerous threat from Emma's past arrives. Ethan is willing to do anything to keep Emma safe, even if it means giving in to the brutal nature he's fought so hard to keep at bay. Giving in a little, though, may mean giving in for forever - if he is unable to bring himself back from the darkness that has always enticed him.

WOW! I loved it!!!

Any additional comments?

Well.. just.... OMG! Ha. I'm still in shock of this wonderfully delicious book of vampire yumminess. This was a series I had started last year. The first two books were great. So I knew this one would be great. But its more than that. Like.. over the top craziness goes on here. The story of Ethan and Emma is just... chaos. But the good kind. You know what I mean. Like walk in the room, fall face first in the lap of the sexiest man alive kind of chaos. (grins)

Ethan has always held onto a secret or two that make him different from the rest of his family. He is not a fan of humans as they bring out the monster he keeps buried down deep inside of him. None-the-less he goes to Bermuda to spend a month with his sister Isabelle and her husband Stefan. Emma is a newly graduated history major looking to set herself free of everything but the sun adn beach for the next month along side her best friends Mandy and Jill. Though we all know things are never that simple. When Ethan and Emma meet eyes in a bar the first night they are both in Bermuda things start to roll downhill. Full speed ahead. He is attracted to her for so many reasons. And Emma, lord the girls ovaries are working over time when she sees him. Though, really, who in the name of blood would blame her.

Its a case of "I see you. You see me, lets shag" but its not that simple for either of them. Ethan is worried about hurting her and Emma is worried about getting hurt. But once their bodies do a dance of urgent love making its all bets are off time. Or so you think. Just when they start to work out the whole "i'm not in this for commitment" stage of their 'relationship' an ass from her past shows up. And he isn't the man she once knew. He is not happy to see Emma has moved on. Guess he is as clueless as most men and thought she would wait on him... LOL Fooled him, she did. With the ex close by things start to happen that no one can anticipate or control. It pushes Ethan to his limits of self control and all hell breaks lose. But what happens after that?

That is the million dollar question. Guess you need to read and find out for yourself. (Note: This is a series but you could read this book as a stand alone.. though I suggest reading them all so you know the characters like I do.)

Not deserving of Tavia Gilbert

Outside of Tavia Gilbert this book had ZERO REDEEMING qualities. Not a one.

Found this while looking for books Tavias performed and it had really good ratings on GR so gave it a go. It's really boring. If not for Tavia I would've DNFd in less than an hour in, but she's amazing so makes it bearable.

The h. This grown woman's prudishness is a level beyond annoying. I've rolled my eyes so hard, so many times. The cringe. ugh. first time they sleep together, immediately after she's asking "what's this mean"? Come on homegirl . I hate weak heroines. She comes across as needy, bordering on pathetic from the jump. The word "eager" was used to explain how much she needs to be back around him after their first night together. nuff said. Coooome on. There isn't a single scene in their initial scenes (Including first date) that this pathetic woman isn't droning on internally about how she could "fall in love with him". I'm embarrassed for you Emma. He takes her to a museum and she actually cries because GASP "he remembered her saying she likes history " GTFO! Then again acts like homie just handed her a 10ct diamond when he buys her a dress. You just feel embarrassed listening to it. He takes her to his house for dinner and her reaction seeing a candle on the table is truly described as someone would react if they were being proposed to. Her hand flies to her mouth and she gasps "finding it hard to breath". Seriously man, what in the actual f**k. This would all be less ridiculous if the target audience was 7yr Olds, but going by the lame ass sex scenes I'm gonna go ahead and assume it's not written for 7yr Olds.

The H. Meh. He could've been good, but this is very very much a tell us not show us book. So we just repeatedly hear that he has an extreme "thirst for blood, death, and violence" but have yet to see him do a single thing that exhibits ANY of those qualities. Like, not even a loss of temper. All we've seen is a love sick puppy. The thing is, is that I love nothing more than a bad ass blood thirsty anti-hero who is a love sick puppy with the h but a savage in any other dynamic. That's not what we get here though. It's what we're told we're getting.

Even the "conflict" is lame. I don't mind frequently used tropes. I love a good stalker thrown into the mix. This was just done so poorly though. The most basic of the basic stalker plots ever. You know immediately (I'm talking the very instant) her ex comes up that, that's what the "conflict" will be. No doubt. It's all so basic and boring up to that point that you know its the only way anything outside of their inner monologues would come up. The timing in which the stalker pops back in is beyond convenient. It's all just so lazy/uncreative. You can do soooooo much cool sh*t with a stalker plot line. Sooooo much cool sh*t and still it was an utter fail here. At a certain point I was so over the heroine I was just hoping he simply offed her. She got all TSTL. You know the part where the H is the ONLY thing that keeps h and all her friends alive and despite the fact that he's had a hundred opportunities to hurt/kill her if that was his intention she still loses her shit with him and kicks him out in real time as he saves them all, because "he's one of those things". Don't get me wrong, definitely not something you take with a shrug and a smile, but use your g**damned brain you nitwit.
No part . Not one single part of this story was surprising.

At 1/3 of the way through I was realllllly struggling to hang in there. Nothing had happened. At all. They've fished. They've made out. Shes freaked out that they made out cause she's just "not that kind of girl". we were told they had a few dates, saw 1 and They've f**ked (a word the h would be mortified to hear). That seriously sums up 3 hours of this book. THREE HOURS. I'm not even exaggerating. Yes, I just summarized 3hr of a book into half a paragraph and I'm not leaving anything out. No lies. I'm going to give it another hour or so. Again, if not for Tavia, there's no way I would've made it this far. No idea how this has such good ratings.

My absolute favorite parts though were the 20 times the heroine stood in front of the hero sobbing repeating her inner monologue of:

"omg I wish there was something I could do to take his pain away"
you just need to touch him and be near him
"God I'd do anything to take his pain away"
no seriously, you just touch him
" oh God if only there was a single thing I could do to take that look off his face"
TOUCH. HIM.
"Id give anything if ONLY there was anything I could do"
For the love of God you stupid fu**ing b**ch. Touch him and be near him like you're literally aware of or STFU
"I think I'll have him lay with me to help alleviate his pain"
YES. THERE YOU GO DUMBASS.
"Omg I'm so tired"**runs away sobbing because it's hopeless. There's nothing she can do**
Seriously PLEASE tell me she dies at some point.
I'd like to highlight that throughout all of this SHES FULLY AWAY ITS HER DISTANCE that's causing him pain. It wasn't enraging that she was unwilling to alleviate his pain. No, what was maddening was that she was genuinely supposed to be sincere while begging the heavens for a way for her to make him not be miserable while knowing exactly what she could do. NOT in a she's too dim that's she's not connecting it. No like without question she's aware. In the same way that you are away if you're thirsty you take a drink.

Repeat

I will say i still loved this series except i feel like it is a major repeat from the 1st two books. For True mates to be so rare they sure are finding a lot of them. but i will say once i get a few more credits added up i might finish out the series. but i feel like it is a major repeat of the 1st two..

Ethan and Emma

Ethan, held in the grips of violent and blood thirsty inclinations, goes to see vacationing Stephan and Isabelle. He feels different from his siblings, the oldest male, he feels twisted as violence becomes more of a pull. Suddenly he meets a human (he always stayed away from them) Emma, who calms him
The story initiates the reader into the need to bond with their mate, and discovering what a born vampire experiences
The action, the questions, seeking resolution for the couple…absolutely loved this story. Highly recommend
Gilbert, as always, out does herself! Love this series

Love this series

I was a little iffy about listening to this because the first two books kinda had the same kinda love story but honestly, so did this one and I love it. I thought I would get sick of it or annoyed but I definitely didn't. Theres so much going on to keep you interested and In love with the characters no matter what. Im about to start the 4th one and I'm excited about it. So far the entire series is amazing

Fantastic

This book is Ethan's adventure. It's sexy, romantic and has plenty of fast paced Vampire drama. We get to see the power of a pureblood vampire. It's well written and well narrated.
