Publisher's Summary

Clay:

My mind and body are full of chaos; the only time I can truly feel free is when my hands, arms, and legs are secured. Just because I want to be bound, able to give over my pleasure entirely to another person, doesn't mean I want to be controlled, humiliated, or made to endure pain. I'm a successful, happy, confident adult man who wants a lover to tie him up. Why is that so scandalous? And why is it so difficult to find?

It doesn't help that I've developed a hopeless crush on my straight roommate. Maybe a fulfilling relationship isn't in the cards for me.

Max:

I'm completely out of control of my life. My ex is trying to take my daughter away from me...again, my dream of owning my own motorcycle repair shop seems out of reach, and somehow I find myself a 32-year-old man who can't afford to have a place without a roommate. So it's no huge surprise that the idea of being given complete control over someone's body and pleasure is a major turn-on. I never had any inkling I might be into guys until my best friend told me he likes to be tied up. Now I'm losing sleep, imagining him bound and begging for me. I can't figure out if it's just the kink or if it's possible I'm falling for him.

Wow. This book. What can I say other than Wow that was HOT. I loved this story, but I also really like Shibari (Japanese Rope Bondage). And you can tell the Author did their research on this one. It wasn’t just written as the usual D/S Bondage between Max and Clay. It was sweet that Max took the time to really figure out what Clay needed from the Relationship and didn’t just jump right in once he figured out what he wanted as well. That for both of them it's not about pain, or humiliation, or really any dominance and submission. Its just all about the bondage. They both took their time thinking everything out, and went from being Roommates and Best Friends, to Lovers with some kink. I just wish it was a little longer with More Shibari scenes. But overall a really good book. This is a "Spin-off" to Heathens Ink and includes some of the characters from previous books as well. So I cant wait to see what the Author creates next in this series of books.
Audio - Kenneth did Great with this one, it was such a pleasure listening to this book, and it might actually be bumped up to my favorite audio in this series. I liked the difference he put into the voices for Clay and Max making them both unique, to stand out from each other but still the story flowed seamlessly. I'm sure I will be doing a re-listen to this one soon.

Sweet story lost to an inconsistent narrator

This is the fourth book I have read in this crossover series (Heathens Ink and Inked). I really enjoyed Max and Clay. They are my second favorite couple. After reading “Shattered Pieces” I was very excited for the Clay and Max story. The author did a phenomenal job in her research about Shibari (Japanese Rope Bondage) and the use of arbitration in a child custody case.

Although this was fast paced, it didn’t feel rushed. Without all of the ambivalence normally present in the discovery of the MC’s sexuality, the reader gets a greater opportunity to get lost in the relationship between the MCs.

Now for the weak points-the narrator did not fit. The voices were inconsistent and at times the main characters (the adult characters) seemed juvenile. Some of the conversations even sounded like a mother speaking to a child. The use of the term preference to describe someone’s sexuality is also a tiny bit outdated.

How Long Does it Take...<br />

... to recognize your one?

The story continues Heathen's Ink with their circle of lovers, friends, acquaintances.

The couple in this episode are as physically different as can be. Clay is a willowy man who owns a dance/yoga studio. Max is broad and beefy and works to restore vintage motorcycles. They have been roommates for 5 years. Until they weren't.

The story is a slow burn with the spice of added kink. Throw in a darling 7 year old and the relationship that should have been easy becomes filled with indecision and insecurity.

Narrator Kenneth Obi handles the all of the characters with skill, making it easy to follow the storyline.

as good as the ebook

The story is always full stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook.

The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. Kenneth Obi is one of the 2 narrators (so far), I can listen without break and have no problems to follow.

fantastic

Clay is searching for a partner he can trust, a partner who will accept all of him. His kink makes that hard.
Max is a single father, clays roommate best friend and straight... or is he. Because Clay is starting to affect Max in a way he never felt before.
Can Max overcome preconceived notions of what he thought he was looking for in a partner? Can Clay trust Max enough to express himself fully? Is the kink too much for Max? And When a surprise move presents itself, are Clay and Max ready to hold on and never let go?
The fifth book in the Heavens Ink series, Unraveled is a beautiful love story that I highly recommend.

Kenneth Obi narrates this story and does a fantastic job. the personalities really come through. heightened my enjoyment of this book.

KM Neuhold and Kenneth Obi!

I’m going through the whole series of Heathens ink and the spin off Inked again. This is the first from Inked, that in timeline happens after book 4 of Heathen’s ink. So if you really want them in cronological order make this your fifth book.

I just love it. It’s sweet and a bit angsty, from both MC’s sides, but for totally different reasons.
Kenneth make a great narration as always!

Brilliant series

K.M. Neuhold has done it again with this addition to the series and with Kenneth Obi narrating it was an absolute winner. I look forward to the next book in this series as they just get better and better!
