Publisher's summary

Luther Biggs had almost hated his father; he was not only cruel to Luther, he was cruel to animals too. He used to tell Luther stories about when he was a lot younger and had a few beers in him he would catch stray cats and tie their tails together and hang them over a clothesline and watch them claw each other to death. Or he and his old drinking buddy, Lukas Bradley Sr. would hold a cat down and shove a firecracker up its ass and light the fuse and watch the poor creature run away into the woods howling and then all of a sudden BOOM! The firecracker would explode and then just dead silence. And now Luke Bradley Jr. had taken over his late father's practice of terrorizing the local kids and animals. Luke Bradley. Most people thought he was just stupid, but he wasn't stupid. He was crazy. That was the fascination of hanging out with him, even if you could get hurt in his company. He did wild things that no one else dared even think about. He was just someone for whom the rules, all of the rules, simply did not apply. But tonight, Luther was going to make sure the rules did apply, by kidnapping Luke Bradley Jr. and making him atone for his sins by treating him just like he'd treated Luther in school - and the way he had treated the animals.

WHEN DOES THE ABUSED BECOME THE ABUSER?

Any additional comments?

This is a simple but straightforward and effective thriller about the bullied becoming the bully. A psychologically decompensating developmentally delayed young adult gets revenge on a cage-bound nasty tormentor. But then, hasn't he become a bully, too? Just enough blood and gore to keep the adrenaline pumping. Supernatural elements are subtly presented. WARNING: this book has graphic scenes of torture to animals---oh, and to humans, too.

Meh

This just never hooked me. There was no connection with any of the characters. They were all unlikable and unsympathetic. The story had promise but it just didn't deliver.

The narrator did an ok job on the general narration but he couldn't do voices. Especially female voices.

Son like Father

This book is a very dark and horrific psychological thriller. It explains the demented bullied youth of Luther as well as some satanic rituals. Worth the short listen. Fluid Characters

This book was a little confusing for me. At the beginning, I felt that ai had a good sense of who the characters were and their motivations. As the story went on though, the characters changed, but not in a developmental way. It was difficult to really tell what a character was like and what his or her true motivations were, so in the end, I did not really understand the basic point of the story.

I didn't care for the narrator's voice for the main character, Luther, because it fed into a negative stereotype a little, but other than that, the narrator did a great job with the various characters in the book and making each one unique.

Torture and cruelty abound

The description of the book had me thinking of some avenging force for justice. What I found was a demented and tortured main character and his allies and enemies. A history of Satan worship, blood sacrifice, murder and deviant sexual behaviors including necrophilia. It has its moments but I felt it was lacking. I couldn't connect to the characters and have any empathy for them or their journey through the story. I applaud anyone who writes and gets published however this story was not one for me. I just couldn't get into it it.

When I listened to the sample of this book I was totally into it and thought I would love it. Once I started the book that was not the case. I did like the innocence and sweetness of the main character and his affection for animals but other than that I just could not get into this book. I felt sorry for him and wanted to like the story but it just didn't develope enough. It was somewhat hard to get through but I didn't want to give up. This book was gifted to me by the author for an honest review and honestly, I think I may try to listen to this again at a later time to see if it will maybe " click" a little better for me at another time but, this time, it just didn't work for me at all.

Superb short psychological thriller d(⊙.⊙)b

Amazing SHORT thriller, it was fast paced and a reality of this cruel world (。•́︿•̀。) When I read the description I found it intriguing. While listening I couldn't help feeling guilt and sorry for the poor kid with mental disabilities. Living in Miami there's always advertising against bullying but nothing gets done. Same with domestic violence. Family's history of alcoholism, satanic rituals, and sexual behaviors played a big role in life of the characters. It truly is a story of revenge and the bullied becoming the bully. That's when the story takes a turn. For a short story, it kept you on edge. I wondered about the paranormal/ supernatural elements in the story. After all, some medications can cause paranoia; make you see things that aren't there. Story was graphic and gory details enough to imagine what both were going through. I thought it was well written. Didn't feel like a shot story; but a full novel.

Narrator Rob Saladino, wow! Σ(⊙▽⊙") Don't know how the audio books are produced. Yet, each character had it's own voice. I was so immersed in the story and different characters, at times had a nod on my throat. Could feel the emotions of the characters. At introduction I thought of a young voice. If this was read in one setting, I'm impressed. The different voice tones for each character made it the more realistic. Impressive work d=('▽`)=b
