Great series, fun read. Narrator was perfect!

This was a great series and the narrator did a great job at capturing all of the characters' personalities and different accents.

The one that ended the series

I didn't first read this novel as a teenager, but decided to listen to the series all the way through here on audible. I was definitely surprised at how good this book was! It left me wishing that there was MORE at the end or a series that continued to follow Cammie, Bex, Zach, and Liz.

Definitely a series that teenage girls and their friends could get together to listen to as a group.

Weak conclusion to a good series

It was a fair series. Entertaining for the most part, but I think the ending was a bit weak.

All in on a bad hand

Would you try another book from Ally Carter and/or Renee Raudman?

Renee Raudman is not my favorite narrator. As the series progressed she seemed to lose her energy and gave a very passable performance.

Miss Carter, however, is a gifted, Cabot-esque writer who I would love to see more from.

Would you ever listen to anything by Ally Carter again?

Absolutely.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

No. Raudman fell flat and failed to capture the significance of the series's climax.

Do you think United We Spy needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No. Carter could and perhaps should have stopped the series at book three and it would have been just fine by me. These last few additions to the series did not meet my expectations.

Any additional comments?

In this much-anticipated finale to the beloved Gallagher Girls series, Ally Carter shoots for the stars and goes all in on a very ambitious (not to mention somewhat ridiculous) plot concept. Unfortunately it is clear from the very beginning that her aim is pretty far off the mark. Like very, very far.

Not that this book is a bad one. No, it has its good points and the charm of the rest of the series, the characters we've grown to love. But to be honest, Miss Carter should have stuck to the quirky, charming style of the first book, without all the danger and the Circle of Cavon and the other "spy stuff" which Carter handles about as well as a hippopotomas handles a tightrope. The action in this book was clearly poorly planned and poorly executed.

Worth a read, though? Absolutely. If you, like me, have read and enjoyed the previous books then no matter the poor overall plot, this book is a necessary conclusion to the series, and you'll still enjoy some quality downtime with the characters from time to time. The series did not end on a high note, as compared to the other books, but it was still a lovely little series and I will remember it fondly.

Great Book, Terrible Audible

Would you listen to United We Spy again? Why?

Definitely not. The narrator's voice was way too distracting. I'd prefer to actually read it.

What other book might you compare United We Spy to and why?

Not sure.

What didn’t you like about Renee Raudman’s performance?

Even though most of the characters are American, she uses a British accents for characters that shouldn't have it (Like Cammie's mom, Macey, etc.)

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No
