Publisher's summary

Do you ever feel left out, lonely, or less than?

Today, learn the secret of belonging which will help you keep rejections in perspective and be better equipped to foster healthy connections in your relationships.

In Uninvited, Lysa shares her own deeply personal experiences of rejection, from the perceived judgment of the perfectly toned woman one elliptical over to the incredibly painful childhood abandonment by her father. She leans in to honestly examine the roots of rejection, as well as rejection's ability to poison relationships from the inside out, including our relationship with God.

With biblical depth, gut honest vulnerability, and refreshing wit, Lysa will help you:

  • Stop feeling left out by believing that even when you are overlooked by others you are handpicked by God.
  • Change your tendency to either fall apart or control the actions of others by embracing God-honoring ways to process your hurt.
  • Know exactly what to pray for the next ten days to steady your soul and restore your confidence in the midst of rejection.
  • Overcome the two core fears that feed your insecurities by understanding the secret of belonging.

Uninvited reminds us we are destined for a love that can never be diminished, tarnished, shaken, or taken—a love that does not reject or uninvite.

Highly Recommend this Book to all!!

We have all struggled with rejection since childhood. This book brilliantly looks at this potentially negative life changing moments in our lives. The author shows how to over come the chocking chains of rejection through biblical teachings and having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. A wonderful, honest and delightful book that open my eyes. Please take the time to listen or read this book. God bless. =)

Uninvited

My women's group at church really liked this book. I, on the other hand, had a difficult time relating to it. I guess I've never felt rejected or unloved. I listened to the audiobook, and followed along in the Kindle book. The first few chapters in the book, I needed to slow down the audio, as the reader read much too fast. Either she slowed down, or I got used to the pace; I was able to listen to the book at normal speed after that. I was thankful for that, as it meant I could get through the material faster, and just be done with it.

Loved content, in spite of narrator

This book is filled with so many pearls of wisdom. The author wrote with such kindness and generosity that were almost entirely negated by a narrator reading the book in a manner to distract from what was written. Her emphasis of certain words portrayed a whiny tone, that I do not believe was intended to include. Once I got past her "style" of reading, what was revealed was a precious gift.

Great, GREAT book...TERRIBLE NARRATOR

This narrator totally ruined the book. She talks like she's on speed -- 100 mph at the slowest point. I really hope this book is re-recorded. I couldn't savor the finer points because she honestly read it way too fast.

This one is worth reading several times over!

This book couples well with what I've learned from Berne Brown's books and the Boundaries series.

Uninvited speaks to women of all ages with truth, encouragement and challenge.

Lysa has done it again. She has produced a book that is encouraging, healing and challenging. With the central message about Christ and the pages filled with scripture, Uninvited sang a beautiful and prayerful song to my heart. This is a book for adolescence, moms and grandmothers alike. Take a peak or a listen.

Excellent

Excellent life-changing book that has helped me to shift my perspective in positive ways after a lifetime of feeling rejected and less than. Very relatable material. TerKeurst provides Biblical truths for encouragement. So much good material here I plan to buy the physical book as a reference, however the audio book was easy to listen to during a long road trip. Wish there was a version of this for men to recommend. TerKeurst writes to a female audience. I would recommend this book to young women in particular who might have faced heartbreak from relationships. Certainly not a quick fix for hurt but TerKeurst provides the building blocks and perspective to help us begin to discipline ourselves to change our thinking and rest on the truth that while we may have been rejected in that past, that's not God's destiny for us. God is good, God is good to us, God is good at being God. Rejections free us up for greater opportunities. I like that the author addresses the hard "in between" time after a rejection before we are chosen for something again. The bonus chapter, while good, seemed to me to be disconnected to the rest of the book in some ways.

Fly on the wall

This woman has had many of the same experiences that I have. It’s like she’s been the proverbial fly on the wall. God is using her book to help me heal from rejection all the way back to the womb. I really do wish this was a faster process, but it helps to hear I’m not the only one who has struggled for decades, and there really is hope for total recovery. Thanks, Lesa, for your honesty and vulnerability!

Great book. Great narrator. Great content!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I was hesitant to buy it at first because of all the negative reviews regarding the narrator reading too fast, but honestly I'm so glad I went with my guy! This book was great! Just what I needed. Helped me in more ways than one! Listened to it in the span of two days and excited to listen to it again! I've recommended it to a ton of friends and family. & as far as the narrator goes, she's not to bad. I thought she did a good job. At first I think it felt like she was going to fast because the comments had gotten to my head lol but I slowed down the speed and it was fine. Don't let that stop you from purchasing this book! Honestly such a great read and a blessing!
