Publisher's Summary

Ungentlemanly Warfare is a captivating historical thriller about a pivotal and dramatic event from the Second World War.

A soldier and a spy, an officer but not quite a gentleman, Captain Harry Walsh is SOE's secret weapon. Loathed by his own commanding officer, haunted by the death of his closest friend and trapped in a loveless marriage, Harry Walsh is close to burnout when he is ordered to assassinate the man behind the ME 163 Komet, Hitler's miracle jet fighter. If Walsh fails, there is no prospect of Allied victory in Europe. Harry Walsh is ruthless, unorthodox and ungentlemanly. He is about to wreak havoc....

Gripping

A fantastic story with marvellous characters. I can’t praise this highly enough. I don’t usually go for WWII tales, but am so glad I did. I hope there is a follow up and Harry stops being so noble. I long for him to have a really happy ending, even though so few SOE agents did in reality. In real life SOE is famous for being managerially utterly incompetent while the agents were beyond belief brave. Can’t recommend this highly enough. Oh, and if Johnathan Keeble ever wanted to seduce me, if he used Harry Walsh’s voice I would be his in an instant.

Great SOE story, slightly let down.

Pacy and well researched. Feels authentic, good characters if you like spy’s and action hero type stuff. For the most part the book works. The sections that didn’t for me where the romance/sex sections. It was all a bit obvious and felt shoe horned in as though the author had decided need to get a bit of sex and love interest into the story so they are more likely to make it into a film. If that had been handled a little more subtly and convincingly it would have made a good book into a really good book. Still a fine listen. May try others by the author. Jonathan Keeble is a very accomplished voice actor so will definitely try more of his work too.
