Lost communities, forgotten crossroads, dissolving racetracks, and even entire towns disappeared. The creation of Lake Lanier displaced more than seven hundred families. During the construction of Lake Chatuge, busloads of schoolboys were brought in to help disinter graves for the community's cemetery relocation. Contractors clearing land for the development of Lake Hartwell met with seventy-eight-year-old Eliza Brock wielding a shotgun and warning the men off her property. Definitely informative. Some details missing though. Still worth a read x

North Georgia is my home . A lot of the river history is well known to older natives and passed to the next generation . Having said this , I definitely learned some new information that shocked me . And saddened me because this particular part of the history is rarely passed down with the exception of Lake Lanier .
Although I enjoyed the audiobook , I feel like there are still hours worth of history that should be told . And taught in schools as part of Georgia history .

Should be required reading

I didn’t know any of this about the rivers, lakes, and towns in Georgia except for the fact that all the lakes were man made. If these stories were fiction, they would be amazing, but knowing they are true makes them unbelievable! Well researched so we don’t have to go back to the archives. Thanks to Lisa M. Russell for keeping the memories alive.

Boring

Disliked the poems, meaningless chatter about basic knowledge of what a reservoir is and isn’t.
