Publisher's Summary

According to statistics reported by CDC in 2020, one in 54 children in the USA were diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in 2016.

It is suggested that boys are four times more likely to get a diagnosis of autism than girls. Autism does not discriminate; it affects all ethnicities and socio-economic groups. Getting the diagnosis and intervention early is better, however, unfortunately, this does not happen for all families.

Speech and language are highly complex learning areas that we take for granted. This is especially difficult if your child has more complex needs. If you have received a recent autism diagnosis, your mind is probably full of questions, you have likely been looking for answers on the internet. If this sounds like you, then you will have noticed hundreds of different sites offering information that is too complex and lengthy for light bedtime reading, which is probably the only time you’ll have to read without being distracted by what your child is doing.

From the point of view of an experienced professional and a parent, we are going to look at all the different areas of development but with children with ASD. I have put together all the information you need for now, as it is easy to understand and absorb. This is the first book in this series. The other books will focus on all the different areas of difficulties.

In this book:

  • Learn about the ASD diagnosis process
  • Learn to create routines that you and your child can easily manage
  • Discover simple ways to help your child develop their early interaction skills
  • Tips and tricks to manage your child’s anxiety
  • Learn about different types of speech/play therapy you can do at home

The next book is on potty training and mastering personal care skills. There will be books focusing on speech and language development, and much more, so look out for those.

Wonderful!

This audiobook is so helpful! Autism is often misconceived and the author does a brilliant job at introducing readers to what it truly is and how to better understand it. This is a wonderful resource for anyone who has someone in their life with autism (parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, siblings, etc.).

I am sure that is one of author's concern

This will benefit a large number of individuals because autism is frequently misunderstood. The book provides parents and caregivers of children with autism with practical advice on how to deal with the unique obstacles that this illness presents. It's straightforward, simple, and easy to understand.

Very informative!

I know some people with ASD children. Prior to listening to this book, I know very little about the topic. This book contains useful information to learn more about ASD and how to be a better parent for children with the condition. I didn't realize how diverse the condition can manifest itself and that women are less diagnosed with ASD. I learned how to do proper play therapy, mitigate light/sound sensitivity, and establishing a routine. My favorite part of this book is when the author unscored the importance of self-care for parents of an autistic child and proposed a thoughtful question of how can you expect to take care of your little one and family if you are not well yourself? I think it's very important that parents take a moment and pause to take care of their own mental and physical needs, because the world would be a better place if you show up as a better you,

A book with golden words- highly supportive!

The helpfulness of this audiobook is just beyond my imagination. My beloved nephew, who is six years old, was diagnosed with autism recently, and this book has everything I need to know about it. He is very close to my heart, and this book has been a great guide to help me and his parents understand him and is mindfully written, covering almost all the parts that should be discussed over the ASD. My sister and I listened to this book multiple times together and gathered so much information on tips and tricks to take care of our kid despite his insecurities. I highly recommended this audiobook to the parents who raise children with autism to anyone who gets to deal with autistic children.

Good introduction!

This book was a great introduction to the world of dealing with having a special needs child. It is a good guide to introduce you to the signs you need to look for that point you in the direction you need to focus on your child's next developmental stage. There are several useful tips that are easily implemented into a daily routine for someone with an autistic child. Loved the straightforward information presentation as well as the smooth delivery by the narrator. Thanks!

Truly Inspiring and Educational

My involvement with parents whose children are autistic comes as a result of my profession as Pastor, therefore I embraced the opportunity to receive further guidance through this audio product.

I was extremely impressed with the way the author dealt with the truth and facts that every parent has experienced.
The book clearly lays out what to expect and how to navigate what is obviously a difficult terrain. The content takes you through the whole spectrum of parental concern and emotions to the professional outlook.

Above all the book is inspiring – it paints the picture of hope! An autistic person can still live a normal life – to which I must shout – Hallelujah!!!

Perfect for Understand Autism

I don't have autism personally, but it's always good to have different perspectives of human problems. This audiobook seems to have excellent information, and after reading the reviews, I'm not the only one who thinks this. Although this book is for those who are on the spectrum, it doesn't hurt to listen to this audiobook.

Overall, this audiobook has excellent information on the struggles of those who are autistic and is definitely worth purchasing.

Nurturing and non judgmental

My friend’s child is autistic and this book has helped me have a better understanding of the struggle my friend and her son goes through.

I found there was lots of hints and tips that I could use to help my friend and support her through her journey, which I know at times can be difficult.

I don’t know Yasmin but she comes across as a very open and nurturing therapist.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book.

An everything you need to know guide

Dealing with autism is daunting, complicated and at times heart-breaking. I found this guide to be very rewarding. The information is not overwhelming but delivered in bite-size bits giving enough information to be of great assistance without going into too much detail, obviously everyone is different and every case of autism is different so it's not possible to go into every possible scenario, this book struck a good balance.

I wish I had this book when my son was young.

Thanks for this very helpful book. It really encouraged me to see that I can seek support during the entire process of finding out how best to help my son thrive.
I was especially touched by the insight into his sensory delays, and how they impact what fears and anxieties he has when navigating the world around him, new smells, new textures, new tastes.
The practical steps for getting through a meltdown are definitely something I want to implement.
Must read for app parents who are thinking about the autism spectrum and how it relates to their situation.

Very insightful!

A good listen. This audiobook gives an insight into the understanding of Autism. So many Kids and their parents struggle with Autism without a clue of what it is or how to get help and manage it. The book walks you through how you can navigate the diagnosis process which usually is not straightforward, how your child can develop early interaction skills, and the different speech and play therapy you can do together at home.

A major takeaway for me from this book is understanding sensory delays, and how they impact what fears and anxieties the kids have when navigating the world around them, new smells, new textures, and new tastes. The practical steps for getting through a meltdown are definitely very helpful and should be implemented. This audiobook is a must-have for all parents in understanding the autism spectrum.

Ok

It’s an overall good book, but quite basic. A good book to start with.
My son is high functioning and little related to him, or me having a better understanding for him.

Excellent, Informative and Practical

It's refreshing to find an audio book that gets straight to the point. Many other books take over 5 hours to convey what this author did in less than 2 hours.
I look forward to your next book.
