I absolutely loved this book! everything about it was phenomenal. I can't wait for the next one!!! the narration in the audio version was exactly how I read it in my head and the performance was fantastic.

Nice Mafia Romance

I've come to like Kristen Proby novels. This one was very nice for a mafia romance. Something new in my genre of contemporary romances and I enjoyed the listening. I thought the performance was excellent by new narrators to this listener. Thor Thom and Kelsey Navarro did an excellent job with the narration. Enjoyable listen and will read more in this series. .

Oh my... What a 'debut' in a new genre! Underboss is the definition of deliciously and addictively SEXY!!! Action and suspense mixed up with the steamy and badass love story, I was hooked from page one!
And the narrators work on all this sexiness... oh my... Perfection!

Welcome to the new mafia world by Kristen Proby!

I've been an on and off again reader of Ms Proby's for years, but I'm glad I just hopped backed on in the last year. She has revisited her "With Me in Seattle" series, adding to the family, and I've enjoyed all the extended family. But this one is a spin off. No need to read any other books. We get to dive into Proby's new Mafia world she has created that has a base in Seattle (and Denver and Atlanta). And I'm here for it.

Underboss is the first book in this series and we are introduced to Carmine and Nadia, two members of rival mafia families. Nadia is a seemingly spoiled princess that spends money on purses and shoes like there's no tomorrow. But she isn't what she appears. Lately, she seems to be a target for someone and has become their punching bag. She can hold her own though, can take a beating, shoot a man and live to tell about it.

Meanwhile, there is Carmine. He is sexy as sin and belongs to a rival mafia family. He's off limits. But when you are assigned to make a woman fall in love with you, that's what he'll do. After events take place at a wedding, he and Nadia form an alliance to find answers. Two mafia families uniting for the greater good.

Nadia and Carmine begin their enemies to lovers game and lines begin to blur quite quickly when working together for their families. When one is in danger the other one comes to protect. They work together to find answers and protect their families, but at what cost? What will they find and how will it affect everyone around them.

Underboss is a fast faced, sexy and suspenseful mafia romance. I found it to be not so brutal nor heavy on the violence but there was still murder and intriguing moments throughout. I thought we sped through some parts of the book and wish their were more finer details, but overall got a decent feel of what the end goal was. The connection between Nadia and Carmine was fast, swift and obvious. This book definitely set the tone of what will follow.

I also had the chance to listen to the audio of this book and found the narrators did a fantastic job of portraying the characters. I definitely enjoyed the female narrator, Kelsey Navarro and felt in her performance that she was pretty kick butt, just as Nadia was. She definitely stood out. Nothing against Carmine (Tor Them), but I appreciate the strong character that Nadia was and the narrator got it down quite well.
Overall, a good start to a new series by Kristen Proby. I'm intrigued and excited to see what comes next.

Mafia Goodness!

When an author takes on a new genre it can be hit or miss. When Kristen Proby takes on the Mafia, I say "Where have the Martenelli's been all my life??"
OMG!! You Belong with Me hinted at the mafia hotness. Underboss blew it up and delivers with one of the best enemies to lovers books that I have read in a long time. Nadia is my hero. This girl is the definition of Bad*** she is all woman and then some. I love her take charge attitude and that she can get the job done no problem. The chemistry between her and Carmine is off the charts. HOT!!!! You can feel the passion in every chapter. Do yourself a favor a pick this one up audible too. Tor Thom was a new narrator for me. He was absolutely perfect for carmine. I mean he totally sets the tone.

This story was full of twists and excitement. I'm so glad more of this amazing family is coming our way soon. I don't think I could handle the wait. Shane & Ivy, I am counting down the days til' I can get my hands on their story.

I highly recommend this book. I am a fan of Mafia romance and an even bigger Kristen Proby fan.. You will not be disapointed. This is the very definition of a 1 Click Buy..

Keeping you on your toes

Fast paced, mind racing, scorching hot... All words I would use to describe Underboss. Keeping you on your toes from the first page to the last, Kristen Proby combines her classic writing style and the mafia underworld together to create magic that I just can’t get enough of. She continues to outdo herself with each book she writes, and I. AM. HERE. FOR. IT!

Engaging Story

With Underboss, Kristen Proby is branching out her With Me In Seattle series into the mafia genre. Nadia and Carmine come from two opposing families but are thrown together to work out a problem that is affecting them both.

The storyline is engaging and there is great chemistry and steam between Nadia and Carmine. As always in a Kristen Proby read, there is a strong girl squad for Nadia, and I look forward to getting further into the series to learn more about the side characters. Carmine’s brothers are intriguing as well, and the sense of family is strong.

There are some violent moments included, but I consider this to be more mafia lite as it’s not heavy on murder and mayhem and focuses more on the relationship between Nadia and Carmine.

The narrators were good but not great for me, however that's a personal preference for me rather than skill on their part. I had no trouble knowing which character was speaking at any given time and both narrators kept the pace and storyline flowing, I just didn't care for their voices.

Mafia, with a Proby twist?! Ummm, YES, please!

Kristen Proby takes on the Mafia like it's her job and business is so freakin' good! This has got to be one of the hottest enemies to lovers books I've read in quite some time and I loved every moment of it!! There's so much agnst between Carmine and Nadia, it's absolutely explosive between them when they do get down to the nitty gritty. And oh my goodness, the twists and turns....Proby keeps you guessing until the last page. It's a good thing we won't have to wait long because I absolutely cannot wait to get Shane & Ivy's book next month!! ❤ 

Loved Carmine and Nadia

Underboss is the 1st book in the With Me in Seattle Mafia series and I’d you love Mafia, I recommend this series. It a good dive into their world.
Nadia and Carmine have known each other since they were kids. They are from feuding mafia families. But what happens when they try to one up each other? They try to get into each others family, and we get a roller coaster of lies, deceptions, an unexpected plot twist. They become two people who realize that it’s better they work together to defeat the enemy all while pretending that they hate each other, and try not to fall in love. This story is dangerous, angsty, suspenseful, witty, with sexy banter that will keep you guessing, and turning the pages.

You Will Not Be Disappointed!

I LOVE Kristen Proby!!! I am a huge fan of her “With Me In Seattle” series. I was a little skeptical about reading a mafia story since I don’t usually gravitate toward this trope. I am so glad I gave it a try, Proby does not disappoint! You will be hooked!
