Once again we find ourselves at that idyllic country seat, Blandings. This time it's debonair charmer, Frederick Altamont Cornwallis Twistleton, fifth Earl of Ickenham (known to most as 'Uncle Fred') who has been lured to the castle by affable Lord Emsworth.

His lordship requires an expert in human behaviour to prevent the egg-throwing Duke of Dunstable from stealing Emsworth's treasured pig, Empress of Blandings. The plot's eccentricities naturally include love and romance and, crucially, three imposters. Add to the cocktail some 'Mickey Finn's', a brace of financially embarrassed nephews and a private investigator, 'Mustard Pott'.

As the mixture boils there are shot guns in the night time - plus redoubtable Lady Constance, Emsworth's sister, who could halt a cavalry charge merely with her voice. A happy and appropriate ending is of course on the cards.

This was my first exposure to P.G. Wodehouse and therefore my first visit to Blandings Castle as well, and I enjoyed it enough that I'm looking for more. I thought the reading by Jarvis wonderful with all the voice characterizations he brings to it. At first, not being familiar with the people and doings at Blandings Castle, I thought the story was a bit slow developing, but it gained great momentum as it proceeds through all the funny complications of the story.

Had a great time with this

Wodehouse is pretty funny here, and the story flows well. Just relaxing at the end of the day to listen to.

Only 75% of those Audiobook is Wodehouse though. The company that generated this audiobook version is misrepresenting just how much Wodehouse you get. Four hours of the actual Wodehouse story, which comprises Chapter 1-4. Chapters 5-8 are some other stories by other authors and read by other narrators. Nothing about this in the description. I bought this on sale for about $5 USD. It's not right to charge their higher price for four hours. They falsely make it out like you're getting over six hours of entertaining Wodehouse. This misrepresentaion by the company that generated the audiobook has already upset other reviewers, causing his great literature to get bad reviews that Wodehouse and the narrator don't deserve and probably deterring some people from trying Wodehouse who have not enjoyed his literary art yet.

4hrs of funny story, great narrator

I love PG Wodehouse and enjoyed this reading! but they tacked on almost two hours of random other books at the end of this recording.

why would they add unrelated books at the end?
