Publisher's summary

The United Eastern States has fallen. Lee Harden and a band of survivors have escaped President Briggs' invasion force. Their only options are to attack Briggs while his forces are delayed on the East Coast...or admit that they've been beaten and go into hiding. For Lee Harden, the decision seems obvious. But as disparate forces, factions, and loyalties begin to converge under the pressure cooker of all-out civil war, Lee is forced to confront not only insurmountable odds, but also the darkest parts of himself that he has left buried in the years since this all began.

filler book

nothing happened in this book they have dragged out a series that should have been a 3 book series into 6 with nothing but artificial filler for content. it started off strong but has fizzled out. best part of the book was the narrator

I'm out

I've given up on this series. Way too much space is taken up by Lee and Sam's constant inner monologues of self-doubt and self-loathing. I can't believe I made it this far. The rest of the story is good and some introspection is great but it's complete overkill. Adios Lee, I guess you aren't good enough after all.

Don’t leave me hanging!!

Once again, just, outstanding. There are not many series that I’d be willing to stop everything and listen to but this one is it! D.J. Molles has captured my heart and soul and given it to Lee Harden. The emotions I feel for this character are unlike any other series I’ve ever read. I carry the weight of the Lee with me every where and have asked myself more than once since “The Remaining” first started what Lee would do if he were in my shoes. The rise and falls of Lee and everyone who surrounds him lives in my heart. I feel for him like I feel for my most loved friends and family. I can’t wait to see how this journey plays out as he is on the doorstep of another life altering event.

Let’s get book 6 out tomorrow please!!

Not as good as previous

Review: This was not nearly as good as the other in the series I didn't make it more than a couple of hours. The book just goes nowhere repeating dull stuff from other books. It’s like the writer was just putting in filler.

What a AMAZING setup for the next book!

I have loved this series from day one. I’m so desperate to know what happens next. I’ve really grown to love this narrator and he really captures Lee perfectly.

Filler Bunny in an otherwise great series

First off, I love the story arc over the two series. What I don't love in this latest book, is the tortured introspective navel gazing padded out for some the main characters. The entire book feels like it's just filler for what will probably be the finale to the series in the next one. Beyond a few key bits of info, I feel I could have missed this one entirely and not missed a thing. Narrator's performance as always, top notch!

Another Nail Biter!

Another nail biting, action packed read (listen)! Lee Harden is a bad ax and now Sam is following in his footsteps! Love the sections where Sam s leading the way and learning as goes. Great series!

Betrayal, mistrust

Loved the fact that so many damaged souls were still willing to fight and sacrifice, trust that they could still make a difference.

This series is pretty exciting and a bit different

I must admit I enjoy action as well as 'post apocalyptic' escapism and this is pretty good. My only real complaint is either due to the writer or the reader - and I'm not sure whose fault this is as I have not investigated the actual written material. The word 'anyway' is used many times and it is ALWAYS pronounced ANYWAYS. As a voracious reader and listener this grates so badly it nearly causes heartburn. Surely, one of these guys must be educated and probably both? 'Anyways' is used many dozens of times in the reading of this series and is my only serious complaint. The series is exciting for the most part, the characters are varied, there are surprises and the monsters are different from the usual fare. Who doesn't occasionally wonder what would transpire in the world after one or another apocalyptic event?
