Sus primeras publicaciones iban dirigidas a un público adulto: La agonía de los deseos, Las niñas no hacen ruido cuando mueren o Sarajevo-Berlín: billete de ida. Novelas, ensayos y reportajes. Un día le propusieron escribir historias para los más pequeños. Acogió la idea con tanto entusiasmo que ya tiene publicadas varias novelas para niños y jóvenes. Con Caracoles, pendientes y mariposas consiguió el XIII Premio de Literatura Infantil Ala Delta 2002. Ha cultivado varios géneros: poesía, novela, ensayo... pero se ha afincado en la literatura infantil y juvenil, un tipo de literatura exigente, pero muy agradecida.
