  • Chinese troops march in Putin's Victory Day parade as Xi joins Putin to spite Trump
    May 9 2025

    Day 1,171.

Today, as Vladimir Putin hosts world leaders in Moscow for his Victory Day Parade, we break down what was really on display: both in military hardware and political messaging. How much of the spectacle honored World War II, and how much signaled the rise of a militarised Russia? Then, we speak with a former Ukrainian MP and leader of the Sky Shield initiative about proposals for Kyiv’s allies to shoot down enemy missiles, and report on the latest resistance efforts in occupied territories.

  • Victory Day truce 'a farce', say allies & Ukraine proposes 30km demilitarized zone for peace
    May 8 2025

    Day 1,170.

Today, as the end of the Second World War in Europe is marked in most European countries, we report how Vladimir Putin’s three-day ‘goodwill ceasefire’ designed to protect his own commemoration tomorrow appears to have been broken already, we examine three very strong and uncharacteristically critical comments by the United States administration about Russia, and we ask whether Friedrich Merz has hit the ground running, or fallen at the first hurdle.

I look forward to “Ukraine, the Latest” every day. The hosts and guests are all very impressive, prepared, and give valuable insights into the Ukrainian struggle against the outrageous and barbaric invasion by Russia. The podcast feels a lot like a daily BBC worldservice report specifically on Ukraine. The personalities are clearly biased towards Ukraine, but seem passionate about passing as much objective information as possible. Every episode is interesting and provides a new insight.

informative

I have to admit; writing that title for a review seems a bit corny and potentially hyperbolic, etc, etc. Yet, this is exactly how I feel. These folks do an incredible job every day bringing us thoughtful, researched, no b.s. analysis. Their folks are smart, have expertise in the topics they discuss, and are just interesting to listen to. I'd give them 6 stars if I could. Listen out for Dom, which I think is short for Dominic; he really knows his stuff, and is also a bit opinionated, self-deprecating, fun spirited (though very subdued because of the topic), and just an excellent source of information. I can't see how this doesn't become your only/primary podcast about the Ukraine war.

Great pieces of Journalism

This podcast does a great job of covering all aspects of the war, not just arrows on a map. They discuss the strategic and tactical side, but also the human side, and they do it in a responsible way. It is excellent content for listeners from either side of the pond.

Excellent Journalism from Relatable Journalists

I wait every day to hear this podcast. Excellent coverage and it's nice to hear my country mentioned.

Dom, I think the Ambassador is wearing the Shaw tartan which I believe is under the Campbells. this is from a vague memory I have from my wedding to my Scottish husband. That tartan was the only one of its kind at the reception...I could be wrong. unfortunately the only person who knows is now dead. Anyway that's my guess.
