Publisher's summary

Wherever Chelsea Handler travels, one thing is certain: she always ends up in the land of the ridiculous. Now, in this uproarious collection, she sneaks her sharp wit through airport security and delivers her most absurd and hilarious stories ever.

On safari in Africa, it's anyone's guess as to what's more dangerous: the wildlife or Chelsea. But whether she's fumbling the seduction of a guide by not knowing where tigers live (Asia, duh) or wearing a bathrobe into the bush because her clothes stopped fitting seven margaritas ago, she's always game for the next misadventure.

The situation gets down and dirty as she defiles a kayak in the Bahamas, and outright sweaty as she escapes from a German hospital on crutches. When things get truly scary, like finding herself stuck next to a passenger with bad breath, she knows she can rely on her family to make matters even worse. Thank goodness she has the devoted Chunk by her side - except for the time she loses him in Telluride.

Complete with answers to the most frequently asked traveler's questions, hot travel trips, and travel etiquette, none of which should be believed, Uganda Be Kidding Me has Chelsea taking on the world, one laugh-out-loud incident at a time.

Hilarious!

Loved this book!! Hearing Chelsea read her own words had me laughing all over town. Just wish the audio version came out when the book did.

With its shortcomings, still well worth the wait

Would you listen to Uganda Be Kidding Me again? Why?

I would. Chelsea Handler isn't selling herself short with this one, she's back with full force. Although I wasn't wholly sold during the first couple of chapters (I'm not jumping on the racism train here, an easy one to hitch regarding the title), I just wasn't having my usual laugh out loud moments as I did with Vodka and Bang Bang (which can be very embarrassing on the train).

Yet, that is also probably one of the main reasons I would give this one another go. Maybe I was missing something during my first run-through.

Would you be willing to try another book from Chelsea Handler? Why or why not?

I have. All of them.

What does Chelsea Handler bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Well, Chelsea Handler for one. Her deadpan, blasé and verbally violent delivery is what makes the audiobook form of her books so great, if not maybe even more enjoyable than reading them (except for My Horizontal Life, which wasn't read by her and sounds more like a soft core Cinemax feature rather than the blue comedy piece it should be).

In fact, she's one of the only writers I prefer to listen to on audiobook, due to the way she contributes to her essays, than to read her books.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did.

Any additional comments?

Uganda Be Kidding Me, despite its shortcomings in the beginning, I felt was really worth the wait.

Love, Love, Loved this whole book it's hard to pick a "best" but I think the best is that Chelsea Handler read it to me.

Skip

I love Chelsea Handler. I love her other books. I love her show on Netflix. I hate this book. Most of the stories are not that funny and shouldn't be included in a book. The book feels forced. She also sounds forced to read it; it's like she is bored with her own book. She reads some sections as fast as she possibly can and mumbles.

Mediocre & Arrogant

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Chelsea sounded bored and reluctant to read this. I bought it and cringed most the time. However, if youre into her sometimes offensive humor, flippant approach, or want to feel like a friend is reluctantly telling you a story then this could be for you. Wouldn't recommend.

Good not so great!

The whole books is great, she has talent, she's funny but sometimes I felt like she was rushing to finish the book, other than that she's just amazingly entertaining.

Hysterical. As usual

If you've read and enjoyed Chelsea's other books, than you'd also like this. Hysterical reaction to a breakup. You can tell she's getting older and her interests are changing, but she's still amazing.

Good for what it was.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

No. For what it was it was perfect.

Would you be willing to try another book from Chelsea Handler? Why or why not?

Absolutely. She's really funny and has clever ways of explaining things.

Which scene was your favorite?

When they first meet Rex and shes fantasizing about their future. So many laughs.

Did Uganda Be Kidding Me inspire you to do anything?

To live more. Smile more. Adventure.

Any additional comments?

This was great for what it was. Silly abrasive entertainment with a few good lessons. Chelsea is a joy though. Her reading her own adventures was an EXCELLENT choice.

Not her best

I loved Chelsea's other books, but this one was boring and not funny. If you like listening to monotone narration and a not that "funny or compelling" then this book is for you. I don't even want to finish it
