Publisher's summary

Melanie Hanna has finally worked up the courage to travel to New York and tell an old flame that he's the father of her young son. She's done hiding and apologizing for her one impulsive night. When her best friend asks her brother to watch over Melanie, her emotional trip takes an unexpected and sizzling detour.

Charles Dery is at the top of his game, but all he can think about is bedding the woman he was asked to protect. When she's almost killed, he takes what he'd been denying himself and discovers he'll do anything to keep her - even break his own rules.

When it comes to love, two wrongs may just finally make a right.

Just awful performance.

Could not even get through this audible the performance was so horrible. Good grief have you never actually heard a Texan speak??? It may be a great book but I will never know. The reader just ruined it.

Loved the characters!

My Musings

4.25 Stars: Story

2 Stars: Narrative

There is so much to love about these characters. From the hero and heroine to Melanie's adorable son. I could feel Charles' pain even though the reason for it is a bit weak. Melanie's pain was much more understandable. Many of her decisions from her past did greatly influence her life.

I did not care for the narrator at all. While she did give the characters distinctive voices, some of them were really bad. Charles sounded like he had a stick stuck up his rear end! David's voice was just plain annoying.

Overall, I really enjoyed Melanie and Charles' love story a lot, and I'm very glad I found this series. Happy reading!

Awesome Series!

Any additional comments?

This is an awesome series; this is the second book in The Lone Star series and was written by Ruth Cardello and narrated by Marian Harris. Melanie Hanna is traveling to New York to tell an old flame that he is the father of her young son. Charles Dery’s sister asks him to look over and protect her friend Melanie while she is in New York. Charles tries to deny his attraction to Melanie, but when she is almost killed he will do anything to protect her.

The narrator Marian Harris, did a wonderful job, and was very easy to listen too. I have listened to several books by this narrator and have loved every one, and I am looking forward to listening to more books by her. She did a great job with the different characters and their voices.

This book has a great story; if you are looking for a great romance with some humor, then you need to get this book. I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

I loved this story waiting for more

This story had such meaning for me. It has made me think of finding my own second chance. You can't stop now what will happen with Dave? He is a vital character but a loner can't wait to see how you bring him out of his shell

Horrible narrator.

I hate to say it, but the narrator ruins the story. The sandy cheeks accent and the awful male and child voices. It’s so bad. The story is good. The narrator should stick to her normal speaking voice which was great.

Yankee narrator for a story taking place in Texas?

The fake southern draw by the narrator was almost painful. Her attempts at a male southern accent drastically reduced a possible 5 star Audible down to a 3.5. Fortunately for me I don't let such things entirely ruin the experience. I just wish authors would put a little more thought into choosing an appropriate narrator. Badly performed southern accent is as bad as a badly performed British accent.
