Jason has one thing to look forward to though: college. It’s a chance to start fresh and create a cooler version of the person he used to be. A bit juvenile

First, I did enjoy the story itself. I believe that the author could have had a very good book here had she developed the story line and the characters a bit more. Given us a little more background in the beginning.
The writing is a bit juvenile and I honestly don't understand why there are 3 books. This is more like a novella that got split up into 3 chapters. However, I didn't have any trouble listening or completing the book. I really just wanted more from the author.
I did listen to the audiobook version of this story and Sam Deeter has a really good voice. He does great with the character voices, but, giving a little constructive criticism, I would say, work on the narration. Tell a story rather than reading the book.

All in all, again, I did read the book and hopefully this doesn't keep others from giving it a listen.

Good Teen short story with some good lessons...

Twisted Saga by Third Cousins, Danica Reid was an enjoyable listen, but I do have to preface my review by saying that I really didn't see it as a romance. Like, really. At all. Aside from that, this was an enjoyable listen and I felt that it carried some valuable lessons in the three short sections that make up the "Boxed Set." Now if you're an adult listening to this saga, might you be bored by the lack of a super deep plot and somewhat simpler characters? Perhaps. This is categorized as a teen listen though, and I felt that the writing was well done for that particular age group. Without giving away too much, this saga deals with bullying, suicide, murder, rumors, friendship, relationships, etc. That's a lot of just over two hours. Jason was my favorite character and I loved how he was there for Sophie throughout, even though she had been pretty crappy to him in the past. I'd definitely recommend this for the teen listener.

Samuel Deeter did a good job narrating Twisted Saga. There were some tough, emotional spots throughout this listen and he handled them well and with a good amount of emotion. I felt he was a good narrator for these stories and I'd definitely listen to his performances in the future. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher for an honest review.

great short bite.

Yes, this is a short listen. But following along with Jason and Sophie as they deal with some major life changes was pretty worth it. I generally don't care for such short stories, but this one was well worth it. Samuel Deeter does a great job as narrator. Well worth a listen.

Great Book Series!

Although they were short stories the author done a great job condensing the story line. The ending made me tear up but books are exceptional when they move the listener in such ways. The narrator done a great job with the different characters.

Great Short Story

I received this audiobook free for an honest review. With this being a "Boxed Set" of three books, I wasn't sure how much of a story I would get in such a short amount of time. It was really good. It was great for the young adult. It was nice to hear a story that is so realistic and down to earth in a high school and college setting. It hits the gut with the truth about what goes on behind closed doors and how it affects the child involved and those around them. The narration seemed a bit stilted. But, overall a good listen.

A Beautiful Simple Story

This box set is more of series of short stories that combine into a novella that tells the story of a regular boy. This regular boy faces regular problems (such as divorce, bullies, obesity), however, he gets involved with a not so regular girl, with problems that aren't so regular. This story is a simple story, a relatable story, a heartfelt story, and a very beautifully written story. I really enjoyed it.

Good but a little different

It was an interesting book, had no trouble getting into it and listening to the whole set. Was in no way predictable. Had some very good messages in it. I enjoyed it .

Eh...

My first thought is that calling this a boxed set is being generous. All together, these three books just barely make up a single book. But the ebook market has been leaning toward smaller books lately and I guess the audiobook market is catching up to the trend.

The performance was good, the reading was even but not boring and the volume was well managed, something that can become an issue in smaller productions. It did seem to lack emotion in areas where emotion was needed, but overall a good performance.

The story however... what can I say? Short, underdeveloped, underwhelming, a little boring - that would all be true. There’s no real motivation for most of the main characters thoughts and actions, and you’re left with the heavy sense of “but why should I care?” The story tries very hard to be impressive, and you get drawn in at times but end up being letdown when no real climax happens. For a book that calls itself a “coming of age ROMANCE”, there isn’t any. The main character somehow goes through three girls but has no chemistry with any of them.

This is one of those stories where nothing really sticks with you when it’s over. It passes the time, it’s mildly entertaining, but in the end it’s just meh. Half the battle with audiobooks seems to be finding a good reader - this one had one, but the story wasn’t able to hold up its end of the bargain.
