Highly disturbing!

Twins, and victims of a violent end to their mother, these 3 year old boys grew up with "Uncle", a survivalist and anti-government, ex-armed forces fanatic. This first book in a series is tragic and moving, yet also graphically violent, while incorporating shadows of abduction and indoctrination. If you are looking for a series that is seriously screwed up, then look no further! Layer upon layer of intrigue and survival techniques merge with a coming of age story that knocked my brain for a loop. At sixteen, the boys are now violent sociopaths, yet victims of their environments. It's a chilling nod to the great 'Nature vs. Nurture' debate. I can't wait to see what happens next! ***i was gifted a copy of this audiobook in exchange for agreeing to post an honest review***

I want more!

This book is the first in a series about twin 16 year old boys. They survive off the land and kill anything and anyone that gets in their way.

The story is very good, it reminds me of the writing off Jeff Menapace. Very suspenseful and difficult to put down.

I felt that the narrator could have done a better job. For most of the book it was as if he was reading a book and not telling a story. Some parts seemed like he was reading the book for the first time while other parts, especially when the characters were speaking, were done very well.

Overall this book is dark and suspenseful. I can't wait to continue the series!

Unexpected Ending! Loved It!

I really liked this book and can't wait to get #2. I never expected the ending. Hoping the author keeps surprising me in the next one. This is not your ordinary book about twin boys that are raised in the wild. I would recommend this to anyone who likes some action but still a great story behind it.

Great narration & Story. For older children/adult

The narration was great. A good story. I’d recommend this for adults or older children. Lots of killing and violence. Great first novel. We will definitely listen to the next one.
This summarizes the story perfectly: (From another writeup): Does nature vs nurture matter, when death is your only option? Orphaned twin boys are raised by a woodsman they call ''Uncle,'' away from the society he bitterly left years ago. Trained in the arts of the woodsman, they became the ultimate hunting, fishing, surviving and killing forces that Uncle had designed them to be. However, Uncle knew he was leaving this world and that the twins would be okay with the world. What Uncle could have never known was if the world would be okay with the twins. When changing lives is not an option, the twins must begin to take lives. Enjoy this fast paced, thrilling outdoors adventure novel as the Twins battle against the society that wants to end their woodland way of life. Twins of Prey is W.C. Hoffman's first novel in the Twins of Prey series.

Suspenseful and Riveting

Twins of Prey was a very interesting listen. I feel this book is important in some way. It was about survival. Twins, Drake and Tomek are rescued from a car accident by a survivalist who had former military experience. They called him "Uncle". He raised them, teaching them everything they needed to survive in the wild. Hunting, fishing, making poison from nightshade for their arrows, etc. When a hunter finds his way into there woods and shoots their buck, they kill the hunter. This sets off a whole chain of events of hunting and being hunted. Uncle's mantra was 'after five stay alive' and they boys never forgot.

The sheriff of Pine Run puts together a group of deputies and goes out hunting for the boys and the boys, relying on their knowledge of the land and what Uncle had taught them became the hunters. It came down to survival of the fittest. This story was at times gory but so riveting with great twists that I couldn't put it down. I think the author did a great job writing this and I look forward to Book 2, "Homecoming".

About the narrator: Daniel Rose did a terrific job voicing this audiobook. I think his tone and voice inflections were perfect. He kept the story flowing at a good pace and he spoke clearly and was easy to understand. I was very happy with his performance and again look forward to listening to more in book 2.

Badass book!

As someone who doesn't like books I really enjoyed this one! The author does an incredible job at making the scene real. Add in the fact that you can truly believe everything going on could really happen in real life adds a realism aspect that just makes it that much more enjoyable!
