Publisher's summary

At 40, Dr. Keegan Wade is the Chief of Trauma Surgery, a rising star at NYC General. She's immersed 24-7 in work that she once loved. No one waits for her at home and she has nothing to offer. Anxiety has her in a chokehold and she'd give anything to sleep more than two consecutive hours. At the urging of a friend, she takes a long overdue vacation, a cross country trip on a restored steam train, in hopes that time away from the pressures of her job will solve her problems.

At 39, Willow Lord is a recent college graduate, a social worker in desperate need of a job. Divorced nine years, she's lived in poverty, saving coins to buy cat food. Next month, the first payments on her student loans are due. She has no time for a vacation, but when her friend, a friend who won't take 'no' for an answer insists, she sends out resumes and boards The Frisco Express - New York City to California.

As girls, they met and fell in love. But, circumstances set them on separate paths. Twenty-six years later, they board The Frisco Express, and love is given a second chance.

Story was cute

The plot behind the story was very cute. However, I really really struggled with the narration. It felt like people were screaming at each other the entire time I was listening to this book. If there was a different narrator, I probably would’ve given it more stars!

Well written enjoyable story

I enjoyed the storyline, I adored the character development, the adventure on the train, small town life, romance, and highly recommended!

Super romantic

Loved this book, not too much drama, great characters, well written story, the right amount of sex with the addition of many hints...

True love

You never get over your first sometimes. Keegan and Willow may have followed different paths but fate brought them back together. Great job by the narrator as well. Sweet romance story.

Really sweet mushy story

I enjoyed this story but thought it was a bit overly mushy. I really like Emily Beresford as a narrator, but there were parts of this story where her upbeat sound didn't quite fit the story line. Otherwise, I really enjoyed it for an entertaining read that wasn't too much of a roller coaster ride.

Sweet story, great characters

This is a solid second-chance rich girl / poor girl romance. Keegan Wade fell irremediably in love with the first girl she ever kissed. They were 14 and 13 and separated immediately after that kiss. When they meet again, by chance, twenty-six years later, Keegan’s love is still as strong. On the outside, she’s done really well for herself: she’s a surgeon, she’s more than well-off, she’s just been appointed Chief of Trauma Surgery at the New York hospital where she works. Yet she’s having a lot of trouble sleeping, she’s drinking way too much and she’s not enjoying her life much anymore. Finding Willow again brings hope and passion back in her life.

I loved the characters from the start. All of them. They have depth and they feel real. The MCs, obviously, but also Nicole, Willow’s best friend, with all her faults. I really felt for her once I understood what was happening to her. The rest of the secondary characters are interesting too.

Another thing I liked was that the story didn’t stop after the trip Keegan and Willow were reunited on. Real life was suspended on that trip, and I liked that we get to see how things go once the two women were back in New York, each struggling with her own challenges.

I’m not a fan of Emily Beresford’s voice and style but she’s a very good narrator. This was my first book by KA Moll and I think it was a good introduction to her work.

Sweet Very Good Story !

This was a very sweet good story! They met when they were kids. Fate has a way sometimes to make unexplained moments happen. Keegan and Willow were those kids that 26 years meet again on a train just like when they were kids and fell in love.

The plot development was very sweet and thoughtful. The narrator was also very good. Overall, a very good and sweet story.

Sweet book

I don’t really review because I don’t know what to put down lol, but this book was sweet and funny. I always enjoy Emily’s narrative and the way she changes between characters.

Good!

It’s such a sweet story. I may have liked it more reading it rather than listening, the narration seemed a little harsh with a clipped tone when it didn’t need to. However that didn’t make me stop listening. A very cute back story on the two main characters. Overall a very enjoyable listen.
