Publisher's summary
Selected as one of Audible’s best audiobooks of 2021.
Judith Lucy was just GREAT!
Sure, the last remaining member of her immediate family had died, she was menopausal, she suspected her career was in the shitter and it seemed like the world was going to hell in a handbasket—but she was about to move in with the love of her life! Everything would work out because SHE HAD A MAN.
Then, in the space of twenty-four hours, her relationship came apart and so did she. A broken heart became the catalyst for a complete existential melt down. She was nearly fifty, suddenly alone and unsure about every aspect of her life.
How had this happened? Should she blame one of her four parents? What part had the comedy world played and was her disastrous history with men about more than just bad taste?
In her most candid and insightful book yet, Judith figures out what went wrong and then turns her attention to finding out what her life might look like if it went right. She tries everything from dating a tree to getting a portrait of her vulva done to swimming with a whale shark. Thanks to a series of revelations and a slight drowning experience, Judith slowly starts to realise that her life is still full of possibilities and despite death, heartache and a dry vagina it turns out … she’s fine.

What a joy!
Judith is the best friend you haven’t met yet. A heavenly, vulnerable dive into all the unnoticed chatter that we have as women ‘ of o certain experience’. Laugh out loud funny with a little tear on the side.. what a joy to have heard her tell her truths and remind us of ours.. thanks judith :)

Foul
A shame when extreme course vulgar language is needed to tell a story. I'm no prude, it was a spoiler & I didn't get half way through.

Heart’s been probed even deeper than Judith’s colon
Ever felt that crushing weight of ‘surely one day this will all change and I’ll be my best self and life will have some meaning’? Yep, me too - constantly. Lucy explores the (dare I say) ‘meaning of life’ in such a relatable and deeply honest way, blowing the top off all the excuses we tell ourselves but try not to interrogate too deeply. As a recovering self-protective cynic but deep romantic her hilarious reconstructions of her attempts at life and love will bring out the inner Elizabeth Day in the most unbelieving.
High-bloody-five Judith. Your willingness to be completely unclothed (in all the ways) has been a huge kick in the arse for this thirty something who’s been looking for worth in all the wrong places for too long.

Top yarn about what she's been up to lately
Life lessons and self reflective commentary delivered in her beloved matter-of-fact dry and strait up judith way. A good way to enjoy her art in this format.

Fabulous, a personal story with great insights
I found this at the perfect time, having gone through a remarkably similar set of life circumstances, and absolutely loved it. It is funny and challenging and painful, and Judith invites you to join her in her journey of exploring her past, her frameworks for relationships and attitudes and finding a meaningful and purposeful life.
It has a lot of great insights and explores ideas in a personal and emotional way.
If you're already a fan, you'll love this book. If you're not already a fan, this could win you over.
