Inspired by true events, this is a story of my family.

Although much of it is set against a backdrop of war, devastation, and destruction, it is a tale of humanity and the triumph of human spirit. There are accounts of tragedy and heartbreak but also anecdotes about hidden strength, silver linings, and humorous situations.

Beginning with my grandfather Joseph Patrick Murphy, a colorful character and highly decorated veteran of the Great War, it then traces my mother Eileen's early days growing up in Liverpool. In 1940, the story shifts to London and follows her life and experiences "doing her bit" as a young nurse in the middle of the fiery and tumultuous London blitz...and beyond.

The final chapter introduces the American side of my family and my father William Randolph Karsteter. It chronicles his unthinkable loss after the stock market crash of 1929 and, eventually, his date with destiny on D-Day plus one when, as part of the 82nd Airborne, he piloted his Waco glider into the Normandy battlefield and a rendezvous with a German sniper.

Captivating!

What an amazing story! It transports you back in time and holds your attention all the way through. The voice acting is convincing and really immerses you in the story. I highly recommend giving this a listen!

A portrait of courage and resilience that everyone could learn from. The performance was consistent with the story and the story was great!

interesting story. Would liked to have had more about the Grandfather. The account of
him during WW1 was awesome.

Wonderful!

Admittedly not being much of a history buff, I wasn't sure if I would be interested in this audio book. Happily, any doubts that I had vanished within minutes of hearing this wonderfully and lovingly written and narrated collection.

The rich and delightful stories of the remarkable Eileen Murphy's bravery, humor, kindness and love drew me in completely. Both charming and heartbreaking, I went from laughing out loud one moment to reaching for the tissue box to wipe away my tears the next. Experiencing Tuppence for Violets was so thoroughly enjoyable and captivating that I gave it a second listen!

The author's considerable writing, acting and voice talents made it all the more special and entertaining knowing that he was performing significant aspects of his own family's history.

I'm sure the Murphys, Karsteters and especially, the lovely Eileen, in their current realms are beaming with joy and appreciation over their stories being so beautifully documented for all to hear! BRAVO, Christopher!!!
