Publisher's summary

A Washington Post and Amazon Charts bestseller.

From USA Today bestselling author Adriana Locke comes a witty romance about first love and second chances.

After being burned by her dream job in New York City, sports journalist Neely Kimber suddenly finds herself jobless and paying a long-overdue visit to her hometown in Tennessee. Her plan? Relax, reset, and head back up the corporate ladder. There’s just one unexpected step. Neely’s back in Dogwood Lane for barely a day when she sees the man she ran from nine years ago: the bad boy next door who was her first kiss, her first love, and her first heartbreak.

Devoted single dad Dane Madden knows he hurt Neely in the worst way. He’s got a lot to make up for. And as passionate as their reconnection is, it’s a lot to hope for. Having her back in his arms feels so right. But falling in love all over again with a woman who wants to live a world away is bound to go so wrong.

What’s it going to take for Neely to give him - and Dogwood Lane - just one more chance?

Neely and Dane!

After a devastating turn of events at work Neely quit her sportscasting job and left NYC to spend some time in Dogwood Lane with her mother. The one person that she doesn’t want to see is the man who broke her heart her high school sweetheart Dane.

It’s been ten years since Dane made the biggest mistake of his life which he has regretted ever since but it also gave him the greatest gift of all his daughter Mia. When he and Neely see each other again the feelings and chemistry between them is stronger than ever but is it enough to overcome the pain of the past?

This is a sweet and sexy second chance at love story. It is filled with emotion, heat, humor, healing and great secondary characters that leave you wanting more of this new series. I thought that the narrators did a great job at bringing these characters to life.

This was a new to me author

I actually listened to the audio version of this book and enjoyed it. The storyline and narration were both great. This was my first book by this author, but I’ve already started the next one. I can’t wait to get to the back list. I’ve discovered that I love second chance romance. Single dad just throws it up another notch. Dane and Neely and Mia make an adorable family.

Awesome second chance romance!

Neely Kimber is back home in Kentucky after quitting her lucrative NYC job. She just needs some time to regroup while she is job hunting. Of course returning home means finally facing her high school sweetheart...the one who broke her heart...the reason why she’s been gone for a decade.
Single father Dane Madden never really got over Neely. One indiscretion with Neely’s hs bff caused him to, not only break Neely’s heart, but his heart as well. Now she’s back and, even though he’s trying his best to resist, seeing Neely with his daughter is stirring up old feelings.
But at the end of the day, will Neely choose a NYC job over love...and will Dane let her walk away a second time?

I wanted to love it

I hate to say it, but I didn't really care for this book all that much. That hurts me to say because I really love Adriana Locke. This wasn't my favorite second chance romance and I honestly didn't care for either main character and the reasons they broke up. I never felt connected to them or rallied for them to get back together. I thought Neely needed to either never forgive Dane and stop bringing up how he hurt her or move on and figure out if she wanted to be with him or not. The hot and cold stuff she had going on was annoying.

I will that I did enjoy listening to Aiden Snow and Summer Morton has a really great voice despite that fact I didn't like the character she voiced. But they made the experience enjoyable and anyone who is a fan of Adriana Locke's writing and stories will definitely enjoy the audio version.

Great small town romance

Dane and Neely's story was really a heartfelt small town romance. These two get a second chance at a love that they lost years before when Neely comes home for a few days. Things are the same yet different. These two get to know each other again and realize they still love each other.

This town has great characters that we have come to expect from Ms. Locke. The characters are well written and a close knit family group. I loved getting to know each of the characters and can't wait to get all of the different stories from this group. It was a great second chance romance. Of course Dane's daughter, Mia, stole the show. Well written and a great read.

The narration really enhanced the story.

Small-town Romance Done Right

I absolutely fell in love with the characters in this book. Adriana Locke's words truly brought her characters and the town of Dogwood Lane to life. Dane is a swoon-worthy book boyfriend, while Neely is a strong independent woman, whose heart has always belonged to her first love, despite their ugly breakup. After being passed over for a job that should rightfully have been hers, Neely comes home to visit and plot her future. Little does she realize, her future might not even be on her radar yet. Reenter Dane with his adorable daughter, Mia, and you have the makings of a heartwarming, at times breaking, small-town story of young love, betrayal, heartbreak, anger, hope, and passion. I adore the twists and turns the story takes and the pacing of the plot is spot on.
Ms. Locke layers the story with delightful small-town characters and sub plots that enrich the reader and makes them want more visits to Dogwood Lane. I also listened to this book and fell in love with the narrators who brought Ms. Locke's characters to life. Aiden Snow delivers Dane's POV with a delightful Southern drawl that makes my knees weak and reflects all the love and devotion the character feels for his daughter and Neely. Summer Morton does an excellent job with Neely's POV and hits all the character's emotions head on. I will definitely be looking for these two narrators' work in the future. I'm excited there is another book in this series coming because Dogwood Lane seems full of great stories.
