Publisher's summary

Tucker is always ready to fight for the underdog. So when he’s offered a mission to save the life of a dog unfairly judged and slated for termination, he can’t let her go down without a fight. Plus the dog is in Miami, where his sister lives, and...no way he can refuse to attend her upcoming wedding.

Addie knows her sister lied about being attacked by the dog, but Addie isn’t sure to what extent or how far her sister will go for revenge against an animal she hates. Yet Addie is determined to help the dog who she loves, even if no one else does. Finding a hero to champion her cause isn’t part of her plan, but she is quick to realize Tucker’s value when she meets him.

Now if only he didn’t have a nightmare scenario of his own...one that threatens to take them all down, including the dog.

Tucker, Addie and Bernie

Tucker goes to Florida to try and save a war dog from being put down. The people who adopted the war dog gave it to their daughter because she wanted it since they shared the same name. The daughter didn't like that the dog preferred her sister so she reported the dog as being aggressive saying it bit her. Now the dog Bernie is at the pound waiting to be put down. Tucker arrives at the pound and is surprised to see an amazing war dog that is guarded but not broken. Addie comes to see Bernie as well and Tucker sees the interaction between the two and know there is no way the dog bit anyone unless they were abusing it. There is a lot going on in the story, Tucker's sister is getting married, her fiancé is having trouble on his work sites with vandalism, Bernie the dog is in danger and Bernie the human is out of control. I love this book, the story is original and the characters are amazing. Dale Mayer does it again, this is a must read.

Meh

The story was ok but the narrator read it in a not quite monotone an no distinction between characters’ voices.

Takes all kinds

Very good! Good narrator! The war dog was in the story almost from the very first. I felt she was truly a part of the story. Tucker is a great character and well described, as is Addie. Their story is one of protection and discovery. Some mystery thrown in here is good, and the sister is a real trouble maker. The dedication of the characters to the war dog makes this book.
