Publisher's Summary

This is a very powerful audiobook.

It offers inspiration to those of us who want to speak out at a time when many of us feel the world isn't listening.

Jess Phillips - no stranger to speaking truth to power herself - will help you dig deep and get organised, finding the courage and the tools you need to speak up and make a difference. As well as offering inspiration and hope from her own experiences Jess talks to the accidental heroes who have been brave enough to risk everything, become whistle-blowers and successfully fight back.

Entertaining, empowering and uncompromising, Truth to Power is the audiobook we all need to help us call time on the seemingly unstoppable tide of bullshit in our lives.

interesting, inspiring but a bit short.

There is something very engaging by the unpretentious style and vernacular used by Jess Phillips and there is a passion for fighting injustice that runs through the book. But somehow it lacked a little depth and practical application and I was left wanting more of a positive vision for the future and some direction.....

Inspiring stuff

There’s no one quite like Jess Phillips to make you feel like you can do something good!

The stories she shares of the different people who have stood up for what they believe in are amazing and really illustrate the points she’s making.

Thank you Jess!

a motivating and inspiring call to arms

I didn't know I loved Jess Phillips till I listened to this. She tells the stories and interprets the actions of activists in a way that has me.on the lookout for injustice that I might stand up to it.

If you don’t make your voice heard nothing will happen

This is a short but passionate book written by an MP who stands up for things and explains how you can too. So if the examples of what people have had to stand up for are well know like sexual abuse in Rotherham or the Harvey Weinstein case. You get to understand what the whilst blowers did and how you can too.

Inspirational

Jess has taught me that my passion for challenging the status quo where it is in error is not enough. She offers practical advice that turns passion into possibility and makes us realise that whilst speaking truth to power can be exhausting, frustrating and just downright discouraging, there are things we can do to help us keep going and maybe, just maybe, we can make a difference. So don't say there's nothing we can do as individuals, listen to or read this book and realise that there is. Thanks Jess, you're a star.

While there are politicians like Jess, then we all stand a chance

Inspirational. Truly inspirational. The power and the bravery to wake every day to fight for social justice in the face of such hostility is phenomenal. To have the courage to do what’s right as the death threats roll in and she and her supporters are decried by those so scared of her and what she stands for gives not just our daughters a true role model, but gives one to use middle aged white blokes too.
