A tale with merit from 1929!

Engaging, suspenseful, historically rooted, well written, spurs the reader to learn more, deserving of its Newbery Medal…. What more is there to say, highly recommended!

Loved this audiobook!

Interesting setting, enjoyed the historical tidbits, and the reader had a clear, strong voice and was very engaging. Would recommend this to students 4th/5th grade and up.

Wonderful Story

This book is in the reading list for the homeschool history program we use. I was a bit apprehensive at first, as it is quite dated, but we were pleasantly surprised. It's a great book, full of drama and suspense...perfect for my three busy boys.

Misnomered chapters

Don’t purchase this version! This is a wonderful adventure story with exciting narration, but this version doesn’t correctly enumerate the chapters. It was hard to keep our place until I started using bookmarks.
