Publisher's summary

In award-winning author Anne Frasier's riveting thriller Truly Dead, homicide detective Elise Sandburg returns to Savannah with her partner, profiler David Gould, to track a killer who seems eerily familiar.

When a demolition crew uncovers several bodies inside the walls of a house where serial killer Frank J. Remy once lived, the discovery sends shock waves through the Savannah Police Department. All of the bodies were hidden before Remy's imprisonment and subsequent death thirty-six years earlier - except for one belonging to a missing child.

Homicide partners Elise Sandburg and David Gould were the Savannah PD's dream team, solving uncrackable crimes and catching killers. But their last case resulted in their termination from the squad, until the coroner calls them back to consult, unofficially, on a body found in the wall of a house once occupied by Remy, a killer Elise's own father sent to jail - a killer who died in prison. The MO seems uncomfortably similar to that of a serial killer wreaking havoc in Florida.

Does Elise have a copycat on her hands? Is Remy's influence reaching from beyond the grave? Or is Elise making connections where there are none? When her father warns her to back off the case, Elise's shadowy family history threatens to swallow her once again. But whatever force is at work, she won't rest until the killing stops.

Now at odds with everyone she cares about and forced to acknowledge her worsening emotional state, Elise struggles to protect the people she loves as the body count rises.

I want more!

It’s not often that I find both a story and a narration that excites me so much. I have loved ALL of Anne’s books and just want more - of all 3 series or even stand alones. I love this writer and her narrators.

Good story...GREAT narrator!

I have read/listened to all the books in this series. They are mysterious, mystical, and sometimes magical. The narration is superb...female, male, old, young... and the Gulla accents are how I imagine them, having never met a Gulla woman in real life. Highly recommend!

it was ok

voices were terrible for the male characters...the story was good but predictable. not sure if I'd recommend.

Glad to hear the next in this series

I read the first three books in this series. I thought the narrator was ok, but slightly odd male voices.

not quite as good as the prior

this was an interesting listen but didn't seem to have the depth of characters that tje previous books in the series had. it also felt unfinished.

She's Gullah, Not Gullible

If you're familiar with the series and are hoping for more of the same rich, authentic, southern magic, worry not. Frasier delivers. What has become of Elise and David after being fired from the Savannah PD? Will they requite our wishes for their relationship? Is Elise really over all her trauma from Tremain? How does all of the personal turmoil going on inside each character lend flavor to the plot of the mystery?

I love how Frasier weaves the story-lines from all three previous books into this one; as she does each time. Just when you think you've learned all you could about Elise, David, Audrey, Jackson, Strata Luna.... Sweet Kitty! There's more!
