Story
Edgar Cayce Jr., born in 1877 in rural Kentucky and educated only through the eighth grade, was a man with special powers. Known as the "sleeping prophet," Cayce was an endless source of information. Awake, he had no knowledge of any of the subjects he discussed, but in a trance he prescribed medical treatments, predicted future world events, interpreted past lives, designed innovative technologies, wrote screenplays, spoke in foreign languages, and brought spiritual messages from the "other side." Sidney Kirkpatrick has written a fascinating, definitive biography.

You will believe in Cayce if you don't already
I was intrigued by Cayce as a child.. I'm 48 now and been a member of the A.R.E. for years.. now to hear real names and true stories behind the readings... mind blowing. If everyone would follow his simple holistic remedies, nobody would be sick, drug companies do not want people to know how simple perfect health can be.. Cayce died of exhaustion trying to heal as many as he could.. and you will hear some of their testimonials in this book. Your life is 1 step away from changing, once you believe in Edgar Cayce.. whom channeled Jesus telling him how to heal the sick and perform miracles.. and also died because of them... just like Jesus.

Fascinating and Fantastic Telling of Cayce 's Life
This is the most detailed rendition of Cayce"s life's work I've ever heard. I have known of the sleeping prophet for over 50 years now and have never tried of his story. Unless you were there or privy to intimate details of his life, this book is worth a listen, even a couple of listens IMHO... (in my humble opinion)... very enjoyable, uplifting and gives hope for a future for all mankind.

Uplifts the soul with Hope!
I have been aware of the A.R.E and the Edgar Cayce readings for many years. While incredibly powerful information came through this man, the archaic prose is sometimes so difficult to read that for me the meaning is lost. This account of specific individuals who were given a reading allows the reader to be shown a broad view of the situation of all of the participants. Those in need, Edgar and the helpers to the process. And the best of all? With the information provided in well written and laid out chronology I am allowed to learn of the results of the specific individuals. What did they do with the information provided, was it correct and successful? This book is a gift of hope, love and charity. Oh and thank you for adding as an audible. My husband is blind and we are able to enjoy together.

Interesting information on Edgar Cayce and people
I really enjoyed listening to this biography and especially liked how it tied into events in American history. The network of people and events are nicely brought together along with what Edgar Cayce brought out in his work to help people. The story is told in such an interesting way that I couldn't wait to get back to the audio book.

One of the best books on Edgar Cayce.
He healed two people of Tb, through Trance counsel, This is documented. I have no need of proof of God, because as we all can be, my connection is to God, as we are all pieces of God. Look for truth, and you will find it. 5 stars on everything for this book. Amazing!

Enlightening
At first, I thought this book was a rehash of There Is A River by Thomas Sugrue, but about halfway through it became very interesting and unique. There are more readings in this volume. And there is a more balanced backward view of what went wrong with the first hospital. And also, more detail into Cayce's life after he embraced his psychic abilities. He had many interesting encounters throughout his life that were left out of the Sugrue's book. There is also a more in depth look at what exactly the readings told Cayce to do in order to keep his health up and more detail around the times he ignored his own readings. It was obvious Cayce put his own health in peril because he felt so compelled to help as many others as he possibly could. He sounds like a wonderful human being and a truly gentle soul who wanted to do his best for others in his time here. In fact, I want to learn more about him and his work and, after reading another reviewer's comments, joined the A.R.E. Scott Pollak does an excellent narration of great material and I enjoyed listening to this audiobook.
