"True Stories" is one of Vincent Zandri's most anthologized short stories. Based on the true story of Zandri having tackled and apprehended a car thief who was rampaging through his upstate New York neighborhood, this literary thriller begins with a 'seed of truth' around which grow invented circumstances - the result being a clever mesh of truth and creation.

If you could sum up True Stories in three words, what would they be?

Cathartic, moving, dark

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

This story paints a detailed picture of lives filled with tragedy and loss. It's not necessarily for the faint of heart, but it's an important tale of what individuals go through during some of the most trying times humans can endure.

What about Jim McCance’s performance did you like?

McCance's voice is filled with exactly the right amount of grim acceptance and heartfelt emotion. We're in the hands of a real pro here. This important yet difficult story needed a narrator exactly like him. Brilliant performance.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I came close to tears a few times over this brief story.

Any additional comments?

Listeners should prepare themselves for a dark journey, but it's a journey well worth taking.
