Publisher's summary

Moriarty, New Mexico, is about as far as Logan Pierce got before the money and the El Camino gave out. He‘d hoped for a clean start in life as a field mechanic working for any company willing to pay top dollar for his skills in the oil fields of West Texas. Low on funds and out of options, he begins a change of course in his mechanic career and takes a local job as a technician at Duggan's Truck Stop.

The truck stop is a miniature city within a city that has all the luxuries for a home away from home feel for the over-the-road truck driver. Under it all, Logan discovers there is also a dark side, which people claim is operated by the Dixie Mafia. Then there is the persistent rumor that affiliates of the Mafia are looking for a quarter-million in missing cash skimmed from over a five-year time frame. The job was meant to be a temporary solution but that was before Amy Hauser entered the picture and presented him with additional problems.

They want nothing more than to leave New Mexico for a new life, but then again…there’s that rumor of a quarter-million in missing mob cash. And Logan just may well have discovered where it’s hidden, but soon finds that some people want it more.

Enjoyable listen

I enjoyed listening to this book. Listening to Logan's struggle with starting a new life after getting divorced. Then Amy comes into his life and he struggles with staying away from her. Can Logan get back on his feet? Listen to this book and you will find a lot of mystery and action. I received a copy for an honest review.

Good audio book

Great story in general. It is relatively long story but I love it. I broke it down piece by piece and I finished the listening around 3 days. I enjoyed the whole journey.

Pretty cool story

Other than a few minor discrepancies, this is a well written and entertaining story. I may be spoiled by the very talented narrators that I've had the pleasure of listening to over the years because this particular narrator can only be described as an amateur at best. Any good narrator should at least understand how to properly pronounce words and use correct inflections.

New listener here… now hooked for life!

We’re bombarded with a myriad of thrilling titles these days; some just not packing the punch we had hoped for. Not here! I was becoming more and more engrossed as the story unfolded! Without giving too much away, just know that you are entering a thrill of a ride with superb writing, excellent narration, and an overarching tone that is reminiscent of the greatest in its genre. Anxiously awaiting the second installment.

What a great story, characters go through a roller coaster of emotions and the book keeps on your toes the whole time. John has done a great job with this one and the narrator keeps you engaged the whole time.
