Publisher's Summary

From New York Times Best seller Alessandra Torre...

Everyone in Nashville knows Nathan Dumont.

Four years ago, his fiancée disappeared.

Last night, he proposed to me.

I'd wanted to escape my life, the seedy strip club, and the mountain of bills. I had seized the opportunity to live in a mansion, fill my days with country clubs and caviar, my nights with romance and sex.

Maybe I should have done my homework first.

Great narration failed to connect with characters

I will start by saying that the narration by Aria & Will is perfection. it felt they really carried the emotional content of the story and it felt very engaging. That being said my particular disconnect with the story is more character based. I have read other books with this type of trope (marriage of convenience) but this particular one just felt like the characters had very little redeeming qualities so it made my connection to them a bit difficult. This is my second audio from this author and i think this might be a thing with her writing. The storyline is good but I just seem to be at a disconnect with the characters.

Could have been better...

...but it was okay. Predictable. But light read if you are looking for that. If you want deep, moving. Find another book.

Horrible story!!!

I love Will M. Watt that’s why I chose to listen to this audible. But even Will couldn’t save the story. Candace was just dumb. There was no reason for her to fall in love with Nathan. He was horrible to her. I read some reviews that imply she doesn’t apologize for her womanhood, so “you go girl”. That is a lie, she is pathetic. This woman is not strong, she is a pathetic whore. She is not an example of a strong woman she is the example of an ex stripper that is just dumb, weak and thinks giving blowjobs is the answer for her bad decisions in life. The story just doesn’t make sense how can someone be so pathetic.

Just listen to the sex scenes

This story was lacking. Its unfolding was disingenuous to the characters’ personalities. The heroine was immature, and the hero, without affect. The premise of the story of the heroine being a striper offering limited benefits and the hero being a love-torn billionaire was ridiculous. The turnabout in the end was inconsistent with the characters. The book’s only redeeming qualities were the narrators’ performances and the off-the-charts sex scenes.

Alessandra is a master at combining mystery with a love story.

I couldn't figure this one out until the secret was revealed and it did not disappoint. I love the mystery and I like how it didn't get dragged out too long. The story progressed at a nice pace. If you like mystery and a love story with a side of steamy hot, mixed in one story- you won't be disappointed with this one.

Sorry

Sorry. I couldn’t finish this. Male narrator’s lisp destroys the fantasy. Story is irritatingly vague. I would actively not recommend this.

HOLY NASAL SPEAKING, BATMAN. Weak main character.

I understand some sounds force a nasal discharge, but not every letter needs to sound like you are ending it with a pinch of your dang nose. STOP, STOP, STOP.

As for the book, WEAK main character. Asshole male. yada yada yada. I realize people get desperate, but DAMN-honest work is beyond this woman? Like, working two jobs is too much-but being a prostitute is A-Okay? Right. She never self-respect, she wants easy.

wow, what an ending ...

the biggest thing I kept saying throughout the whole book was What Happened 2 Drew? I really appreciated how Drew took care (protected) of Candy. I gotta say I just didn't like or enjoy how Nathan did Candy ...if you feel it was an HEA ending ... so be it ... but I didn't. I loved the book but I was like what??! see how you feel ... i love the humor and family bits. I would recommend having your headphone ...there are a pooh ton of sexy scenes ... personally i don't need those constantly ... i usually hop over them ... any who to each his/her own. I have read more from Alessandra before ... and will not stop now ... she is a great writer! well done! i don't think a reader has to agree with all the authors writes or goes too ... u can see that ... check it out!

Loved the narration

I love the narration for this book. Generally, I love anything by Will Watt so that's what got me to listen in the first place. But I didn't enjoy the book/storyline. Nothing in particular, just not my cup of tea. I feel like it left us with more questions than answers and so many things weren't answered, like how he even found he to begin with.

Great book, not the best audio

Excellent story and the narrators themselves were great but the audio quality is terrible, there is a lot of background noise and can even hear talking in the background multiple times throughout the audio. Disappointing.
