Publisher's Summary

In a novel of mounting psychological suspense, a young mother follows a dangerous path to find her missing husband.

Veronica Cavanaugh’s grasp on the world is slipping. Her latest round of fertility treatments not only failed but left her on edge and unbalanced. And her three-year-old daughter, Elizabella, has a new imaginary friend, who seems much more devilish than playful. So when Veronica’s husband fails to return home from a business trip, what’s left of her stability begins to crumble.

Given her family’s history of mental illness, and Elizabella’s insistence that her daddy is dead, Veronica starts questioning herself. Every move she makes is now suspect. Worse still, Veronica is positive that someone wants her and her daughter dead, too - unless it’s all in her mind...

Somewhere beneath her paranoia is the answer to her husband’s vanishing. To find it, she’s led to a house in the Florida Keys. But once there, she isn’t sure she wants to know the truth.

Keeps you guessing until the end!

The Kindle version of Trespassing was an Amazon Prime First Read selection for March. I did not read it deciding instead to wait for the audio version which was released on April 1. While I do not believe it deserves the average 4.7 star rating it has received at Amazon from over 1000 readers, the book is quite good. (The Goodreads average rating is 4.23 stars with 3600 ratings.) It kept me guessing until the very end whether the protagonist was a victim or was totally insane. I definitely recommend Trespassing for listeners who like dark psychological thrillers. Narration is superb although a bit slow which can be corrected with the Audible app.

Frustrating

If I was this mother I would sit the girl down and have her tell me everything in full and exactly what she means. This was frustrating because the girl had all the answers and was talking in riddles and the mother was too flustered to just get the info out of her. The detective was incompetent and I was annoyed how everyone was ignoring the main issues and focusing on small details. This was completely unbelievable because in real life everyone can’t be this dumb. Also the narrator doing the detectives part, especially as the detective kept saying “Veronica” was like nails in a chalk board.

Ok story

The story was ok, a little twisty but the narrator was so bad it was distracting and made it hard to listen and enjoy the story.

Great book, bad narration.

Loved the book. Kept my guessing. The narrator almost made me walk away though. The voice she does for the little child is whiny and painful to listen to.

Worst narration I have ever heard

This book was awful. The narration was worse than fingernails scraping on a chalkboard. The story was terrible too, but the whining, squealing and phony voices are just too much to stand. Seriously horrible:(

terrible narration

Story dragged. Constant whining about fertility treatments. Completely unrealistic dialogue for a 3 year old. The narration was almost unbearable. Constant sing song voice inflection and the voice used for the 3 year old was like fingernails on a chalkboard.

The whining child was like nails on a chalkboard

I listen to a great many audio books and I rarely write a review, but, the narration on this one is warranting a comment.
It was so overly dramatic and the voice and constant whine of the child really got on my nerves. I read other reviews where the reviewer said they got into the overall story enough that they tuned out the child. Unfortunately, for me, the story never got good enough for that to happen
I had most of the story figures out and didn’t care enough about the characters .
Overall, I would say, don’t waste a credit

Longer than necessary

Story was okay. Book was just too long and drawn out. Not as suspenseful as I would have liked. Seemed more like a Lifetime movie. Narration was annoying and at some point it reminded me of voices on The Simpsons. But I muddled through to the end which was hard.

really bad

really bad story, writing and narration. The narrator tried too hard, making everything drama filled even when it shouldn't be. It took everything I had in me to finish this book.

My recommendation, don't waste your time.

Great story...horrible narrator.

I completely enjoyed the story. Awesome twist at the end. But the narrator's female voices were all so shrill, especially the little girl. I had to take a break every so often just to get away from all the screeching.
