Publisher's summary

The Dark Side of Disney reveals all of the tips, tricks, scams, and stories that THEY don't want you to know about! Unabashedly unafraid of offending the family-oriented audiences catered to by other Disney travel guides, author Leonard Kinsey gives intrepid travelers access to the seamy, raunchy, and often hilarious underbelly of Walt Disney World.

From cautionary tales of scoring illegal tickets, to thrilling accounts of exploring off-limits areas, to chronicles of drug-induced debauchery, this completely unauthorized guidebook will change the way you think about vacationing at "The Happiest Place on Earth".

You Have Been Misled!!

There are no secrets here. The author leads you to believe that there is something here but there just simply is not. It is about him and his friends going behind the scenes and seeing what was there. There is no one caught having sex or taking drug or anything of the sort. It is what you expect from an approved Disney book. It was a waste to even get the book.

Outdated and pointless

Unfortunately, as pointed out by the author, this book is completely out of date. Disney has corrected almost every hint/tip in here. The author uses the f word as a comedic tool that gets old quick. A lot of the things in this book are things I figured out for myself over the years... and some things I figured out much better solutions. I think this book takes the fun out of making the best out of Disney. My husband and I go every month and are always finding new non-park activities to keep it interesting. I appreciate the author's intentions and love of Disney, but this just seems like a frat guys guide to acting like an ass at WDW.

Useless. Dated. Lowbrow. Tripe

Would you try another book from Leonard Kinsey and/or Jeffrey Kafer?

Absolutely not.

Would you ever listen to anything by Leonard Kinsey again?

Yes. He does his best to capture the author's spirit, unfortunately.

What three words best describe Jeffrey Kafer’s voice?

Empassioned. Entertaining. Aware.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Severe disappointment.

Any additional comments?

Rather than provide fun stories, this batch of nerdy tripe focuses on silly ways to shave a dollar or two from the cost of a Walt Disney World visit. Most of the suggestions are either idiotic common-sense or woefully outdated. Furthermore, in that it is misrepresented by the title art as a group of stories, it fails as a tip book. Not a valuable suggestion inside for anyone other than a beer-belching cheapskate.

Low rating based on out of date info

It is hard to keep up with Disney as they change things very often. Most of the $ saving strategies detailed here are no longer viable.

Definitely worth a listen!

This is a sort of odd written book but definitely worth listening to. It has some funny and unbelievable stories. its a short story but I find my self telling people about stories in it all the time.

Darksiders rise

The Darkside of Disney is a must read and must-have for any adult Disney fan...especially those who loves just a bit of mischief. The stories are unique and interesting and step aside from some of the other written works based on the park. I purchased my audio copyless than one year ago and have listen to it at least six times HIGHLY RECOMMEND

The misinformation is atrocious

Total bs out of date misinformation don’t buy into this mess off half truths. Pool hopping is not. Thing and encouraging people to steal things they didn’t pay for is wrong.

Entertaining but not super informative.

Mostly just an entertaining read if you are a fan of theme parks. Many of the tips are either outdated or based on anecdotal stories. A lot of pointless swears and really pointless references, like, "my uncle who just got out of prison and will probably be back soon." What was the point of that? It didn't go anywhere or add anything. Kind of annoying. Four stars because it's interesting to a Disney fan. If you are not a fan of the parks you probably won't like it as much.
