Publisher's summary

Sex trafficking.

Not Thailand. Or the Philippines. Or Russia.

America.

Rich or poor, black or white, girls disappear across this country every day, pulled into the nightmarish world of prostitution and drugs.

Mex Anderson is back, tasked with finding three missing girls before it's too late. Three girls. Three girls who could live in your town, your neighborhood, or in your own home.

Jayla Imani Thomas is 15. A smart kid from a poor part of town who has to fend for herself. Jayla is headed for college and a better life than her mother had.

Alexis Emily Halston is 17. Money provides everything she wants or needs except functional parents. Alexis has the world by the tail and she knows it.

Olivia Emma Campbell is 12. She's a middle child who dreams of being a veterinarian when she grows up. But right now "Livvy" just wants someone to notice her, maybe even to love her.

Caught up in a cruel system fueled by lust and money, all three young women must find the courage within themselves to survive. And Mex must come to terms with his own loss and face his demons head on - or he might not have the strength to save them.

Great story bringing light to difficult subject matter....not to be ignored!

This story is very well written and well researched. It grabbed my attention from the very beginning and kept me listening to find out what would happen next. The author has done an excellent job tackling difficult subject matter and bringing attention to this growing epidemic. I really appreciated the facts and statistics at the beginning of each chapter. Although the narration isn’t awful, it’s not the best either.....it’s just okay....I’m not sure if it gets better s the story goes on or if I just got used to it, either way, it doesn’t detract from the story. This one is a must listen! I received a review copy at my request and voluntarily reviewed.

Fiction based on hard reality...

This is a tuff one. Well written book. Hard story to listen to. Good to know that it's fiction. Horrible knowing that this book is based on reality and it happens every day.
With a title like TRAFFICKED it's pretty obvious that this book is about human trafficking. This is about young girls (and some boys) taken from their homes, neighborhoods and friends right here in the US. With the publisher's description and the other reviews I won't recap the actual story.
What I will say is I think the author did a wonderful job. She tells a story about trafficking for sex but the book doesn't get too descriptive. One thing I really liked is that through out the book the author adds what could be footnotes at the beginning on many chapters. I found myself writing these down and looking them up (Examples: Stockholm Syndrome in the Pimp-Victim Relationship By NATALIE KITROEFF , Selling Atlanta's children: What has and hasn't changed
By Jane O. Hansen, Special to CNN ). I think by weaving actual articles into the book increases credibility. Not that it's not believable because it is.
I think a different narrator would have been a good thing.
I paid for this book and did not get it for free. It's worth the credit.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book however for some this may prove to be a difficult read.

Sobering and Well Writen.

I feel like this book should be required reading for parents and teens. Although, at those age groups, the information gained by that would be too late for some. Trafficked is an eye-opening and sobering revelation of the activities that take place in Colorado and across the country and the world. it is a thoughtful read and as well as an excellent Listen by narrator Sandra Murphy.

Trafficking Thriller

This is the 1st book I’ve listened to by author and enjoyed it. This book read as if it was factual rather than fiction as was so informative and thought provoking and should be listened to by teens and parents. I loved the characters Mex (PI), Darius, and Cade (as well as Rachel) who is searching for 3 teen girls who have been lured or taken and sold into sex trade. The torture and degrading they went thru was so heartbreaking trying to keep themselves sane and their true self. The main girls are Jayla (15), Alexis (17) and Olivia (12) but many more girls are mentioned. Love the parts of Mex when got Olivia and Isabella out and Darius and Mex get Jayla out of Mexico hotel (tearful with Leah) and with Alexis out of the mansion. To think this deployable acts can be going on right now anywhere with girls and boys. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. THANK YOU

Thoroughly researched, harrowing fictional story

First off, if you have triggers based on sexual assault, rape, kidnapping, trafficking, etc. this may not be the book for you. It does not go into graphic detail of these acts, though it is definitely implied and may bother some.

That being said, this book is excellent. It's a fictional story based on how things really work in the world of human traffickers. This story follows three distinct, unique girls (though it's clear that there is a large market for boys, that often goes unspoken), and their journey into sex trafficking and their escape with the help of Mex Anderson and his small crew. It's fast paced and is definitely a story that I wanted to listen to as quickly as possible-it was that good. I also enjoyed the excerpts from various studies , news reports, etc. that Ms. Brantley put at the beginning of each chapter. It was interesting in that I was able to learn some real world facts and figures about trafficking, and helped interweave fact and fiction.

Sandra Murphy did a good job with the narration. She had unique voices for the various characters and I think she handled them well. I'd definitely listen to another of her performances again. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher for an honest review, but would have gladly paid for this one. I'm eager to read more from Peg Brantley in the future!

A painful novel about child sex trafficking

The Advocate series by Teresa Burrell pulls at the heartstrings as attorney Sabre Brown deals exclusively with cases involving abused children. Trafficked deals with young girls kidnapped and sold into prostitution and drug abuse. Author Peg Brantley has written a brutally honest novel about child sex trafficking that follows the cases of three girls. Listening to the descriptions of what the girls are forced to do is painful, but the problem is real and massive in scope. Every parent should listen to this novel.

Well written, fictional based reality

This was the 1st book I read by the author and it was very well written and I would read one again. While it is fictional it was based on facts of sexual trafficking in the United States. I highly recommend this book to everyone as it makes you think about what is going on and we all need to be aware of what is happening in our nation. I loved the facts woven in at each chapter as it made the fiction reality and sobering. This is happening and we need to be aware of it. The author did a good job showing how girls sold into sex slavery can go into different paths once sold.

Ripped From The Headlines!

Ripped from the headlines--quite literally; each chapter heading includes actual headline stories showing the issue is increasingly putting our children at risk. We are essentially given three case studies, written as fiction, in a gripping and terrifying drama which crosses borders with no regard for age, gender, and socio-economic strata. Compellingly read by Sandra Murphy [AUDIO].

Trafficked

I enjoyed this book very much. It was eye opening that Trafficking is still going on in this country. What these girls went through in this book. It was not an easy book to read but I enjoyed it. The investigators conviction to find and help these girls made the story more compelling to me. I am glad I was asked to listen to this audiobook. Even though there is sadness in this story, there is hope, strength and so much more. *This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.*
