Neil Hunter is a pseudonym of the prolific Lancashire-born writer Michael R. Linaker. As Neil Hunter, Mike wrote two classic Western series, Bodie the Stalker and Jason Brand. Under the name Richard Wyler, he produced four stand-alone Westerns, Incident at Butler’s Station, The Savage Journey, Brigham’s Way, and Travis. Another Western, High Kill, was later published in the Sundance series as Bounty Killer. His Western output can also be found under the names "Dan Stewart", "John C. Danner", and "Frederick H. Christian", the latter name employed when he ghost-wrote an additional five titles in Frederick Nolan’s popular Frank Angel series. Mike has written three "nasty" horror novels under his own name but since the late 1980s has become best-known as one of the most popular contributors to Gold Eagle’s Mack Bolan series, chronicling the adventures of Phoenix Force, The Executioner, and Stony Man, as well as his own action-adventure series, Cade.

Well now, gather 'round, all you lovers of the wild and untamed West, for I've got a tale to spin about an audiobook that'll take you on a ride through the dust and turmoil of the frontier. Hunter's woven a tale that's a mix of rough and tumble, with Brodie dodgin' bullets and scrapin' by, even when it seems like Lady Luck's turned her back on him.

But now, let's talk about the trail this review takes us on. Our storyteller shares a tale that's as spirited as a buckin' bronco, but there's a twist. This ain't just your ordinary Wild West ride. There's a trail that's darker than a moonless night, with graphic scenes that'll have you squintin' your eyes in surprise. The expected violence, it's more than a little gratuitous, and some of it's so over the top, you'd think it was pulled from the dime novels themselves.

And then there's Bodie, a man not easily likable, even in his anti-hero guise. The over-all feel of the tale, well, it's just okay, not a ride that'll have you whoopin' and hollerin' through the canyons. But don't let that steer you away, for even when a trail's got its rough patches, it's the journey that counts.

So, my fellow riders of the range, give "Trackdown: A Bodie the Stalker Western, Book 1" a listen if you've got a hankerin' for a tale that's as rugged as the mountains and as wild as the rivers. Neil Hunter's put pen to paper and Jack de Golia's breathed life into these words, and while it might not be the smoothest ride you've ever taken, it's a journey worth takin' for those who yearn for the days when men were hard and the West was even harder.

Bodie- Bounty Hunter

This is an amazing great book. This is my favorite story line. I will listen to this book over several times in the future. There is one audiobook about Bodie but there is twelve books in this series. The rest you have to read. Bodie is a Bounty Hunter. Starting out Bodie kills three bank robbers that has a Bounty on them. He turns them in to the law in the nearest town. One of them has family in the town that wants to avenge there brother. They try to kill Bodie. Bodie has to kill them all. Then he goes after a gang (Hoyt Reefer gang). There the worst of the worst. Bodie makes enemies along the way but most people stays clear and out of his way. There is a lot of action and gunfights during the hunt. Jack De Golia does a good job narrating this book. This was a story that I enjoyed from beginning to end, it had great characters and story line, The narration by Jack de Golia was good... I would recommend this to others

An OK Western NSFW

The narration was solid, the story was just okay ...

Bodie is a bounty hunter in the Old West with a rep of being the best. The book basically follows Brodie as he rolls up bad guys and occasionally gets worked over before miraculously surviving (not really sure why though). The basic story was decent; however, it was way more graphic than I was expecting, especially the sex scenes. Even some of the expected violence was over the top, obviously gratuitous and generally unbelievable. In generally, Bodie himself was not that likable (even as a quasi anti-hero), so the over all impression was just okay.
