A body without a soul is dead. A soul without a body is a ghost. Only when the two are joined together is there a whole, living being. As it is with us, so too is it with the Torah.

As such the Sod of Torah and the Pshat of Torah each reflect the lessons of the other. In other words, one learns Sod from Pshat, and one learns Pshat from Sod. This is the secret of White Fire and Black Fire.
