Twelve doors. Twelve lives. One chance to stop shrinking and start living.

Imani has spent eight years folding herself into a beige box. She straightens her natural coils, silences her loud laugh, and dulls her shine to fit into her husband Grant’s safe, corporate, and colorless world. She has become an accessory to his relaxation—and she is suffocating.

Then, a mysterious package arrives on December 13th. The Sankofa Calendar isn't filled with chocolates. It’s filled with magic. Each midnight, opening a door transports Imani into an alternate life with a different man. From the dangerous thrill of a Russian oligarch’s penthouse to the chaotic passion of a starving artist’s loft, Imani lives a dozen lifetimes in twelve days.

She’s searching for the perfect man. She finds the woman she left behind. As she jumps through timelines, Imani realizes the problem isn't just her marriage—it’s that she erased herself to sustain it. Now, faced with the final door on Christmas Eve, Imani must make an impossible choice: Stay in a fantasy where love is easy, or return to the wreckage of her real marriage and demand that Grant do the work to love her—loud, bright, and Black.

Can a marriage built on silence survive the truth?

Perfect for fans of "The Midnight Library" meets "It’s a Wonderful Life"—with a steamy, soulful BWWM romance twist.

This was such a unique storyline, and the author told it beautifully. I loved the decision she made after going through all the doors and the transformation that followed. This was a well-thought-out storyline. The only reason I gave this book a 4 instead of a 5 is that, after the transformation, others may disagree with me, but the story dragged a little. Another thing I really liked about this book was that it wasn't oversaturated with steamy scenes. I would highly recommend this book.
