Publisher's summary

Reardon Lewis is a small-town lawyer in Cherry Springs, the place where he and his cousins grew up. With the body of a Viking and the heart of a geek, Reardon is loyal to his family and indispensable to his community. The only thing missing in his life is love, and it just so happens that the one woman he has always wanted but could never have has just moved to Cherry Springs.

Chloe Zahn is a successful businesswoman, a city girl, and a single mom. The last thing she ever planned to do was move to a small town, but that's the choice she's made to bring her son closer to his dad. The only problem? The Lewis family and the obvious disdain they have for her.

The more time Reardon and Chloe spend together, the harder it is to fight their growing feelings for each other. Things between them have always been too complicated, but Reardon knows this may be his last chance to win over the woman he's always dreamed of, complications be damned.

Too Complicated is the second in an all-new small-town romance series by Bethany Lopez. Follow the Lewis cousins as they learn about love and loss in Cherry Springs, the kind of place where there are festivals for every occasion and everyone knows your business.

Another Great Lewis Story

I received this audiobook free for an honest review. I liked this book as well as the one before. It is a wholesome romance. Bethany Lopez does a great job of telling the story of the Lewis clan. Each one is a standalone and doesn't required previous knowledge. This story has a little bit of the previous story, but, it does not require the previous book to be read. The narrator, Anne James, does a great job with the characters and the tone of the story.

Rear...the gentle viking...

We met Reardon in book 1 when he was assisting with Gabe's football camp, and then when Gabe found out that he was the father of Zoe's nephew. We discovered that Rear had his eye on Chloe, Zoe's sister, first but then she chose Gabe. As we get into Reardon's story, we learn that he has never really gotten over Chloe...she's his 'one that got away'. Now he's trying to decide if he should make his move or move on. Chloe has moved to Cherry Springs so that she and her son, Chris, could be close to his father and family...and her sister. She's helping Zoe plan her wedding to Gabe. She has the tingles for Reardon but is afraid of losing his friendship so she keeps acting as if she's not affected by him. Zoe keeps trying to set up Chloe w single guys and that sets off Rear. After much tiptoeing around each other, the pair finally decide to give a relationship a try...all should be well then, right? Not so much! No spoilers...read the book...you will not be disappointed!

Sweet and fun

Reardon Lewis is a small town lawyer and helps his cousins out when needed. Which is how he meets Chloe Zahn.

Chloe Zahn has uprooted her life for the sake of her teenage son and her sister. Things haven't been easy, but they have definitely been unnerving and slightly weird for Chloe. She feels like an outsider and doesn't feel wanted most days. She's getting by and hiding her discomfort, but somedays it's hard.

These two have an unconventional story, and to say it's "too complicated" is correct. It's hard to see an HEA for them when things are as crazy as they are, but the connection they share is undeniable. Reardon with all his nerdiness and Chloe with the fact that she loves it is cute. The light and fun story is an easy read. I enjoyed the whole series and was happy to see the turn of events.

Anna James did a great job on this book. The only thing that would've been better was to have a male voice for Reardon's POV, but Anna did a good job regardless and it was easy to decipher whose POV I was listening to.

Great Read

Too Complicated (The Lewis Cousins #2) was a great read by Bethany Lopez. Reardon is a small-town lawyer in the town he grew up in. The only thing missing in Reardon's life is a love. Unfortunately he has always wanted Chloe, but he can never have her. She didn't expect to move to the small town, but she did to be closer to her son's father. I really loved reading Reardon and Chloe's story and loved their chemistry. I can't wait to read more by Bethany Lopez.

Hmmm

Well, this romance didn't have a lot of story to it. There was no build up of romance or tension, and the plot didn't seem to go anywhere. There are no twists. I was so bored. Read the first book, skip the second in the series. You aren't missing anything.

Convoluted beginnings

Bethany Lopez’s take on small town romance makes me wish I were one of her characters in real life! Chloe and Reardon’s relationship truly was complicated and required a lot of thought because of the intricacies of their family dynamics! Reardon was patient, understanding and chivalrous! Chloe was understandably self-conscious, resilient and loving! It was also great how accepting their family and friends were without interfering too much in their relationship! Also, with it being such a small town, it worked in their favor that there weren’t gossiping old biddies or jealous women or men to throw a wrench in their plans! Although Chloe and Reardon’s beginning is convoluted, their tangled relationship is cemented by unraveling the hard truths! Anne James is a new narrator to me and did a good job with her performance!

Chloe?

I didn't care for Chloe in the last book & I like her even less in this one.. She has a tendency to get drunk & jump the bones of A Lewis cousin & when she finds out she's pregnant it's all somebody elses fault. (his or peer pressure) Good choice in the type of men though. Athletic & smart. Her oldest son is going to need all the advantages he can get , because he will be in a fight, (peer pressure & all don't you know). to defend his sister/cousin. There was a little comment made about the situation by one of the older relatives. But then it was glossed over. If family think its weird just think of the fun other kids are gonna have off what their parents say about his mother & the situation, & no it's not right but that's the way it works.

the ICK factor was high

I'll start by saying I didn't listen/read to the first book, however, there was enough backstory in this one that made me feel like I didn't really miss much. I tried, I really did. I tried SO hard to get into this book but I have never, NEVER liked the whole sibling's ex trope. It's just gross. Oh yeah sure, I'll marry you, it's totally fine that you had your p**is inside my sister and even j**zed inside her making a baby. That on top of that poor kid having to navigate his half sibling/cousin on his dad's side, as well as potential half siblings/second cousins on his mother's side because oh yes, the two main characters about this book are this kid's mom and second cousin. How very incestuous. I could simply not get passed the ick factor of it all in order to actually enjoy this book. Sorry, just not for me.

Another winner in the series!

I first listened to book 4, prior to realizing this was a series, and was hooked! I couldn't wait to listen to the rest of the series, in order, although these books would be perfectly enjoyable as standalones as well. Even through the other books Reardon was my favorite, so I loved hearing about his story. I love how the author manages to even make nerdy look hot! :) I can't wait to hear the outcome of the rest of the Lewis cousins' love lives!! I love Bethany Lopez's writing style and how her mind works. Anne James did a great narration as well.
